Officers-Deborah Brooks, Tres.; Nancy Hill, Vice-Pres.; Leslie Lauen, Pres.; Vickie Blackburn, Sec.; Brenda Hall Carter, Treas. Mrs. Ruth Moore Mr. Roy Wheeler We certainly saved the best until last because our senior year was the best one yet!! We began the year by selecting our officers who very capably took us through our Senior year. Our class, as a whole, excelled in every activity, organization, and honor. In sports, we were represented in football by Rick Hager, Jackie Anderson, Harold Aldridge, Mike Gray, Kenneth Ross, and Mark Gabel. Of these six players. Rick. Harold. Mike, and Jackie were selected to the AU-Confcrcncc team. Basketball players for BHS from our class included (on the boys, team, of course) Mike Gray and Ricky Hager while girls from our class who were on the Basketball team included Debbie Cheatham. Nancy Hill, Jeanette Adamson, and Lynda Wilmcth. Nancy was selected on the All-Conference team for the second time in a row. We were also very proud of the boys from our class who played on the baseball team. Our class was represented well with royalty this year. Nancy Hill was Football Queen and Debbie Cheatham was Basketball Queen. Annual Queen Attendants were Vickie Blackburn. Donna Miller, and Debbie Cheatham. Brenda Hall Carter was Miss Music and Alan Ladd was Mr. Music. Harold Aldridge was both Pep Club and FHA Beau and Rick Hager was Pep Club Beau. During the Awards Assembly you could really tell where the Seniors were sitting by where the awards were going. Leslie Lauen received the Valedictory award, the English award, the Agriculture award, the Math award, the Physics award, and the Senior High Scholarship award. Nancy Hill received the Annual Award, the Shorthand award, the Girls’ Basketball award, the All-Around Athlete award, and the Senior Scholastic Award. Donna Miller and Mike Gray were selected All-Around Boy and Girl; Janis Hughes received the Home Ec. award; while Janet Floyd won the Betty Crocker award; Phyllis Ketter received the Bookkeeping award; Sonja Allen won the Drafting award Harold Aldridge won the Football award; Lynn Stacy received the Annual Award and Rick Hager was selected as All-Around Boy Athlete. In addition, five Seniors including Deborah Brooks, Janet Floyd. Nancy Hill, Leslie Lauen, and Steve Ussery were on the State Honor Society. There were eleven Seniors in Pep Club this year and the President of Pep Club. Donna Dennis, was a Senior. Three Seniors, Jeannie Shatwell, Sonja Allen and Jeanette Adamson, were Cheerleaders. We had fourteen class members in Music this year and five sang in the Double Sectet Janet Floyd. Jeanette Adamson. Sonja Allen. Brenda Hall Carter and Vickie Blackburn. We had twelve FFA members and all the FFA officers except two were from our class. They included Leslie Lauen, Pres.; Harold Aldridge, Vice-Pres.. Rick Hager, Sec., and, Jimmy Don Chapman. Sentinel. We were also well represented in FHA with twelve members and the President, Donna Miller, was a member of our Senior class. We think we have had a good year and we leave BHS with a feeling of pride and a feeling of accomplishment. We think of the good times we have had of our Senior trip, of the many activities of which we were a part and we know that the years of school at Blanchard will always be a memorable part of our lives. These good years were made possible to a large degree by two people who sponsored our class since we were in the seventh grade and we would all like to say “Thank You” to Mrs. Ruth Moore and Mr. Roy Wheeler. 8
