BLANCHARD HIGH SCHOOL BLANCHARD, OKLAHOMA Foreword CAROL STACY Editor Business Manager BOB GILMORE Dear Readers, We of the Lions Staff who are about to depart as graduates of 1964, sincerely hope that in future years this issue of The Lion will be a cherished momento of happy years at Blanchard High School—a reminder of favorite classmates and of the wonderful hours outside the classroom. For most of us, we have been here for our four years of high school. Now we must leave and step out to face a future that is very uncertain. In whatever degree of success or failure we may find ourselves in years to come if a glance at these pages will lighten our labors, if only for a single moment, we deem our yearbook worthwhile. Each of the students at B.H.S. had a part in making this school year one to be remembered. Each event will be remembered, some were happy occasions, and others sad, but they are made a part of our school career--a time never to be forgotten. We hope you enjoy The Lion. It was ours for almost a year. Now it belongs Sincerely, to you. We remember Mother Goose, and all of her stories. Our High School years, and all of their glories. We'll remember Music, all the songs we sang; We can't forget the tardy bell, and all the times it rang. Our letter jackets remind us of basketball, And the trophies in the case help us to recall The many wonderful moments of playing the game, And learning everyday that life is much the same. Of course, we remember our homecoming parade, And all of the football games we have played. The banquets, assemblies, dances, and plays--These we'll remember from our High School days. We've had our disagreements from day to day. But with the help of God they've turned out okay. May we, in the future, to ourselves be true And strive to be worthy in all that we do. We'U remember those who have led us, lessons well taught. To find, in our lifetimes, all goals we have sought; What lies ahead of us no one will know, D1 AnAVinrrl Ul' rh C - Kt a1 U hprP t PT UP m 3 V CJO Annual Staff Donna Stokes EDITOR BUSINESS MANAGER Carol Stacy Robert Gilmore SOPHOMORE REPRESENTATIVE Vicki Elliott and John Stacy FRESHMAN REPRESENTATIVES Diana White and Gary Mitchell JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVES Jane Ellen Shelton and David Southard ADMINISTRATION I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Mrs. Stokes and the members of the Annual staff for their efforts in producing the 1963-64 Lion. The Junior class worked hard this year to make the year a successful one. We elected our officers at the first of the year. Later on, we elected our royalty--Kitty Smith, football queen attendant; Jane Ellen Shelton and Donna Stacy, annual queen candidates; Nedra Swinney was FFA Sweetheart. Jane Ellen Shelton was selected as Annual Queen Princess in the Queen contest. Music groups were filled with members of the Junior class. Jane Ellen Shelton and Nedra Swinney were accompanists and Nancy Worthington, Cleeda White, Donna Stacy, Kay Chapman, Leeanna Nance, Nedra Swinney, and Jane Ellen Shelton sang in the Triple Trios. The Junior play was a success and Mrs. Richey and play cast were well rewarded by their efforts--everyone was delighted with Down to Earth”. FFA and FHA had many Junior class representatives. Athletic Juniors were much in demand. Football players were: Carl Adlridge, Gary Whitford, Dean Clanton, Ronnie Killmer, Ronnie Morton, Robert Bowser, Alvin Reeves, Terry Foster. Basketball team members were Ronnie Killmer, Robert Bowser, Linda Lane, Jane Ellen Shelton, Linda Whinery, and Nancy Worthington. Baseball players Robert Bowser, Tommy Shepherd, and Gary Whitford made us all proud, too. Pres.; Richard Ashford, Sec. The Sophomore class had a wonderful school year. We started by electing our class officers as follows: President, Larry Hager; Vice-President, Raoul Childs; Secretary, Richard Ashford. Our boys were very active in sports this year. We had eight playing High School football--their record was 5 wins and 2 losses with 1 tie. We had seven boys to go out for basketball and five in baseball. Don't leave out the girls! We had twelve going out for basketball, four of which made the team. Vicki Elliott and Doris Freeman made the first and second team of the Canadian Valley All-Conference. We are very proud to have as royalty from the Sophomore class Doris Freeman as Miss Music; Kay Hoisted and Doris Freeman as our Annual Queen candidates; and Roxie Lambert as Football Queen Attendant. We are also proud of the boys and girls in our class that were active in FHA and FFA. The Pep Club flourished with the help of its Sophomore members. Kay Hoisted acted as Sgt-at-Arms for that organization and Vicki Elliott was substitute cheerleader. Gail Price and Doris Freeman were the cheerleaders from the Sophomore class. The Sophomore class would like to thank Mrs. Hooper and Mr. Waggoner for the time that they spent with us as our sponsors.
