DEDICATION Mrs. Laura Rogers came to Blanchard and joined the faculty as Home Economics Instructor in September of 1957. Her parents, [Doctor and Mrs. Ferrin Holcomb, had moved here in July of 1957. Les Rogers, her husband, was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton. So by choice and by chance, Blanchard High School acquired a New Home Economics teacher and has enjoyed her talents for five years. Mrs. Rogers graduated from Beggs High School in 1952. At Oklahoma State University, she belonged to the International Relations Club, Home Economics Club, and Chi Omega Social Sorority. She also attended Texas Western. In her years at New Mexico State, she was a Homecoming Queen, A Yearbook Beauty, Head Counselor for Freshman Women for two years, and recipient of the 1956 Danforth Fellowship, it was also her honor to be elected to Mu Beta, Women’s Honorary Scholastic Society. She graduated with honors from New Mexico State in 1957. Mrs. Rogers has two sons: Brad, born July 7, 1958 and Kurt, born May 29, 1961. She is a member of the Methodist Church, Anabel Circle, and Delta Kappa Gamma, Women’s Educational Sorority in Norman. This year Les will graduate with a degree in General Engineering from Oklahoma University. Mrs. Rogers has decided to call a halt to her teaching career for an indefinite period, so that she can devote more time to her family. With this decision to halt teaching she will be remembered for many contributions she has made these five years at Blanchard. Future Homemakers of America is in its fourth year under her leadership. For five years she has presented a style show, an event that towns people look forward to each year because of the talent exhibited by the girls she has taught. The Home Economics Department has sponsored a F. H. A. Ball for three years and it is one of the nicest social events each year. She has been director of Religious Emphasis Week for four years, and with that direction she has helped us all to remember what the Easter Season really stands for. Being a member of Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, Oklahoma Home Economics Education Association, American Home Economics Education Association, Oklahoma Vocation Association and American Vocation Association has helped to make her a dedicated person in her profession. The Blanchard Annual Staff is proud and honored to dedicate this 1962 Annual to Mrs. Laura Rogers, a credit to her community, a homemaker, and one of the best Home Economics teachers Blanchard has ever had.
