Genelle Richey OFFICERS The Freshman Class started the year off with a bang. We elected the following officers: President, Carl Aldridge; Vice-President, Tommy Shepard; Secretary-Treasurer, Nedra Swinney; Reporter, Ruth Ann Pales; Sergeant-at-Arms, Robert Bowser. We had Royalty in our class this year. Judy Gilmore was elected Annual Princess. The three girls in our room running for Annual Queen were Judy Gilmore, Jane Ellen Shelton, and Leanna Nance. Leanna Nance was elected Annual and Football candidate. In the homecoming float race we were sure we were flying to victory with our float Blue Angels . But we had engine trouble and came in second. Nine girls participated in girls athletics this year. The following girls were on the main string of our basketball and baseball team: Jane Ellen Shelton, Linda Whinnery, and Judy Gilmore. The Junior High Girls Team has had a marvelous season, winning all games and losing none. They won the Washington Invitational Tourney. Ten boys participated in athletics. Robert Bowser distinguished himself by playing mainstring on the high school football team. In Junior High Football Robert Bowser and Terry Foster, were on the main string. In basketball Robert Bowser and Eldon Ursurey made the main string. Several other boys were on the team. Sixteen girls were in music this year. Twelve were in the choir. Judy Gilmore, Jane Shelton, and Kay Chapman were in the Trio. The three and Cleeda White were in the Triple Trio. Nedra Swinney accompanied these two groups and sang in the quartet. The Freshman girls were very thrilled in our first year of F. H. A. An exciting experience was going to the State F.H.A. Rally. The boys were equally thrilled with their activities in F. F. A. During the year the following people were chosen as our class personalities. Most handsome boy and most beautiful girl - Carl Aldridge and Nedra Swinney Cutest boy and girl - Jane E. Shelton and David Southard Most athletic boy and girl - Judy Gilmore and Robert Bowser Most popular boy and girl - Leanna Nance and Terry Foster Most congenial - Donna Stacy and Mike Galloway Most industrious - Ruth Ann Pales and Tommy Shephard Quite a few Freshman received awards at the Awards Assembly this year. Robert Bowser received the Scholarship, Science, Math, and Shop Awards. Jane Shelton and Judy Gilmore received the Gloria Simer Sportsmanship Award. Tommy Shephard received the scholarship and Green Hand Star Farmer. Ronnie Holden received an agriculture award for doing farming work. Billy Compton won an agriculture award in the division of poultry. For our fun this year we wish to thank Mrs. Richey. She has been our sponsor for three years. She has done a wonderful job each year. THANKS SO MUCH
