« IN LOVING MEMORY OF Gloria, the daughter of Newton Bronell and Dorthulia Cates Simer, was born October 5, 1946 in Union City, Oklahoma. Gloria had seven brothers and sisters; Cecil Leroy, Eva Jane, Lois, Helen, Donald, Patricia, and Dale. She spent her first four years of school In Pocasset, her 5th in Chickasha, the 6th in Dibble, and 7th and 8th here in Blanchard. We lost her June 27, 1960 in a drowning accident near Middleberg. Dark brown hair, blue eyes, olive complexion and all smiles was our Gloria. Always willing to do her share of work with her classmates and active in sports made her popular with fellow students. An outstanding forward in basketball, she helped place 5 trophies in our trophy case. The contributions she made in Athletics prompted the Junior High Students this year to dedicate a Sportsmanship Plaque in her memory. Because we all loved her, the 1961 Annual Staff is proud to publish this Annual in her memory. Our loss is Heavens gain. nm I sincerely appreciate the fine work which has been done by Mrs. Lewis and the Annual Staff in producing this year's annual. This yearbook will bring back many memories as you turn the pages. Good luck to all of you. A. J. Terrell I appreciate this very fine job done by Mrs. Lewis and her annual staff in making this 1960-61 Blanchard Annual possible. With this type of continued co-operation between our student body and faculty, our school will forever grow spiritually, socially, mentally, and emotionally to meet the complexity of our very progressive world.
