CLASS OFFICERS Larry Matheny, vice-president; Roy Brooks president; Louise Jarman, secretary-treas urer; Tommy Gardner, sergeant at arms; Myrna Miller, reporter. The sermon is said. The recessional is passed. We, the members of the graduating class of 1958-59, are leaving this school with a feeling of accomplishment which comes from a job well done. It has been such a fine year to treasure. Roy Brooks, our class president, led us through many months of hardship as well as joy. He had able help in Larry Matheny, vice-president; Louise Jarman, secretary-treasurer; Myrna Miller, reporter; and Tommy Gardner, sgt-at-arms. We had much royalty in our class, with Connie Adamson Brooks, Football Queen; Sallie Bowling, Honorary Football Attendant; Connie Coggins, Alumni Queen and FFA Sweetheart; Louise Jarman, Annual Queen; Steve Ellerd, Pep Club Beau, and Joe Sch-willing FHA Beau. Along with royalty, we had celebrities. Steve Ellerd, football captain, Jerry May-field and Roy Brooks, co-captains, led Blanchard to victory on the gridiron. Eight of our football heroes were on the All-District Team and two were candidates for All-State. Nine senior girls took part in sports. Connie Coggins and Phyllis Young captained the basketball team, while Marian Burns and Connie Brooks led the softball team. Eleven senior girls took part in Pep Club. Three of these were officers and three were cheerleaders. The girls were active in FHA and the boys took part .in FFA and shop. The seniors took away their share of awards. Jerry Mayfield received valedictorian, all-around boy, scholarship and agriculture awards; Louise Jarman received awards for salutatorian and shorthand; Carole Golden won English, speech, typing, and library medals; Jo Ann Davis was awarded honors in homemaking and yearbook; Connie Coggins was named all-around girl and girl athlete; Byron Haygood was named boy athlete; and Melvin Ruth received the science award. Four seniors were members of the Honor Society; Jerry Mayfield, Joe Schwilling, Jo Ann Davis, and Carole Golden. We must now leave Blanchard High School for the last time, but we leave with the hope which is expressed in our motto: Find your orbit among the stars. So long, Mr. Sill, you've been a wonderful sponsor! ! !
