SENIORS CLASS OFFICERS Mike Gammill, President; Dean Thompson, Vice President; Mary Sue Swanson, Secretary-Treasurer; and Barbara Sewell, Reporter. SENIOR CLASS We, the members of the Senior Class of 1957, can truly say that we have enjoyed our last year in Blanchard High School more than words alone can express. We shall never have any occasion to forget the many friendships we have formed or fail to cherish the many pleasant memories that are forever ours. At the beginning of this school year, the Senior Class elected these officers: Mike Gammill, President; Dean Thompson, Vice President; Mary Sue Swanson, Secretary-Treasurer; and Barbara Sewell, Reporter. Again we asked Mr. Michael M. Dwyer to be our sponsor and can say that he has guided and led us through a very successful year. Of the nine boys who went out for football, nine made the first string. Three boys also held positions on the basketball team of Blanchard High. Senior boys have too, been active in Shop and F.F.A. Cheering the boys on to victory in the Lionette Pep Club were nine girls from the Senior Class and two cheerleaders; Patsy Binyon and Jannette Byers. The Seniors of 1957 can also boast the majority of the Lionette officers as named: President, Barbara Sewell; Vice President, Wanda Sue Saylors; Secretary-Treasurer, Mary Sue Swanson; and Reporter, Martha Crowley. Pat Young and Rita Winnard scored winning points for the girls’ basketball team this year. Proud are the Seniors to say that both in their Freshman and Senior years they have won the Football Queen Contests. Our lovely queen, Mary Sue Swanson, was crowned by David Pickard between halves of the Blanchard Capitol Hill B Game. And that isn't all! Carol Miller, whose charm will grace these pages as Annual Queen, also belongs to the Seniors. There is more too! Lucille Andrews was given the honor of presiding as queen over the Alumni Banquet. Sharon Ferguson proved a worthy competitor as candidate for F.F.A. Sweetheart. Awards were given to June Lewis, All-around girl; Ron Brooks, Boy athlete; Sharon Ferguson, Commerce; Rita Mae Winnard, Salutatorian and English; Martha E. Crowley, Shorthand; Dean Thompson, Valedictorian, Geometry, Agriculture, All-Around Boy, Scholarship, for outstanding work in these fields of study. June Lewis, Mary Sue Swanson, David Pickard, Dean Thompson, Pat Young, Rita Winnard, and Martha Crowley were seven of fifteen Honor Roll students of Blanchard School. continued on last page
