I uzzzbr qcfzbzlfzos The Junior Class of 1955 is proud to say that we have had a very successful year in all of our activities. We began the year by electing Reford Bassett, President, Kay Ewing, Vice President: Pat French, secretary: Harrylou Daniel, Treasurer, Patsy Ruth Freeman, Reporter, Don Cooper, Sergeant-at-Arms, and Miss Bayless as our class Sponsor. Our class was represented in football by five boys. Also participating in basketball were five girls and three boys. Two of our boys, Lloyd Haygood and Bob Rich, trained for boxing, but only one went out for track. Five Junior girls actively participated in softball, while Johnnie Bowser was manager. Eleven Junior girls cheered the football team on, with Harrylou Daniel as one of the leaders of the Lionette Pep Club. Helping take care of the business problems of the pep squad were: Pat French, Vice President, Jo Ellen Rolen, Secretary: Kay Ewing, Sergeant-at-Arms, and Johnnie Bowser, Program Captain. At the Purcell Stock Show Lloyd Haygood won second place with his lamb and Charles Brightwell placed second with his barrow. As you tum through the pages ef this book you will see the picture of Patsy Ruth Freeman, our lovely Football Queen. We feel very honored in saying that the Juniors came in first. Also you will see pictures of Pat French, FFA Sweetheart, and Patsy Ann Freeman, Annual Queen Candidate from the Junior Class. At the Annual Sweetheart Dance, Harrylou Daniel and Eugene Bums were candidates for the Junior King and Qreen of Hearts, In the music activities the Junior Class was well represented. Eleven girls were enrolled with Harrylou Daniel as-accompanist and President of the Girls' Glee Club. Johnnie Bowser and Pat French were members of the sextet and Bonnie Nixon and Harrylou Daniel took part in the triple trio. The Junior Class was very proud of Pat French, who won a Superior rating at state contest. On May 13, 1955, the Juniors honored the Senior Class with a Hawaiian Cruise Banquet. Two plays were presented by the members of the Junior Class. He's Having A Baby' and 'Once in a Blue Moon' were the one-act plays that were given by our class. Harrylou Daniel was on the honor roll and was given the music award. She was also awarded with a scholarship.
