junior Activities When school started for the term of 1953-54, thirty-four juniors enrolled for the term. We chose for class officers the following: Dwain Brooks, President; Haskell Huffhines, Vice President; Lois Lowry, Secretary; Karen Burris, Treasurer; Letha Lewis, Reporter; Lowell B. Russell waj elected class sponsor. The majority of the junior boys participated in athletic activities: Football, Basketball, Track, and Tennis. They made a good showing on their various teams, and we are proud of them. We also had outstanding representation on the girls' basketball and soft-ball teams. By lifting their voices in song all year in the Mixed Chorus and Glee Club, many juniors contributed to the gaining of superior ratings in both of the State Choral Contests this spring. Our various queen candidates were: Letha Lewis for Football Queen, Wanda Boettler for Annual Queen, and Letha Lewis and Thomas Allen were our candidates for King and Queen of Hearts. We were very proud when the F. F. A. honored Carolyn Wilbanks as their Sweetheart. She received a beautiful jacket as her reward. In march, we presented our class play, Let Me Grow Up, which met with much success. On May 14, 1954, we honored the Seniors with a banquet in Moonlight and Roses” theme. It could be called a successful experiment, because, for the first time, it was held in the gymnasium. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and received many compliments on the beautiful decorations. In the special awards division, the Juniors received the following honors: Jimmy Saylors, Industrial Arts Award; Carolyn Wilbanks, All-Around Girl Award; Dwain Brooks, All-Around Boy Award; Wynona MacMilltn, Scholarship and Algebra Awards; Joy Mac Starry, Scholarship, Algebra, Science. Service, and Creative Writing Awards. Dwain Brooks, Mary McCraw, Carolyn Wilbanks, Wynona MacMlllin, and Joy Mac Starry were members of the Honor Society. Thirteen Juniors were members of the Librarians’ Club. As this term of school draws to a close, we are looking ahead to an even more successful and enjoyable year next term. We hope to accomplish much in our senior year at Blanchard High,
