FRESHMAN ACTIVITIES We, the Freshmen of ,52-'53, have found our first year in high school very thrilling and adventurous. Our class officers were as follows: Eugene Burns, president; Harvey Puckett, vice president; Harrylou Daniel, secretary and treasurer; Pat French, reporter; Mr. Michael Dwyer, sponsor. In October we held a class party in the English Room in which everyone took part. Gay were the games and singing; and dainty were the refreshments, which were served at the close of the party. Soon December found us busily preparing for a Christmas party. We exchanged gifts which were toys for smaller children. These were boxed and sent to the Lions' Club for children who were unfortunate. Later, February rolled around, and everyone was getting ready for the big Sweet Heart Dance given by the Mixed Chorus. From our class the attendants of the King and Queen of Hearts, were Reford Bassett and Pat French. All are very happy to say Patsy Ruth Freeman was our queen attendant for the annual and candidate for the FFA Sweetheart. Nearly every freshman pupil participated in athletics. Four of our boys went out for football, while fourteen freshman girls cheered in the Pep Club. The Junior High Basketball Team was made up almost entirely of freshman boys, while twelve girls were on the girls' team. The girls are proud to announce they won a runners-up trophy at the Tuttle Tournament; and they were runners-up in the County Tournament. High point girl for the season was Kay Ewing with 170 points. As our Football Queen Attendant, we chose Harrylou Daniel. The night of the coronation, she was there, looking beautiful in a cool, baby blue formal, with her escort, Eugene Burns. Freshmen were also interested in musical activities. Most of the girls took part in Glee Club and Mixed Chorus. There was only one freshman boy, Harvey Puckett, who participated in Mixed Chorus. Harrylou Daniel is a member of the Girls' Trio and is one of the piano accompanists for the Music Department. Everyone in our class is very proud of a member of our room, Harrylou Daniel, who took part in a piano contest at the Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Oklahoma. She competed with five hundred other piano students and is one of two people chosen to go to State in April. Two members of our class, Johnnie Lee Bowser and Pat French, were on the annual Staff. We feel our freshman year has been very successful, and we hope our following years will be even better.
