SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY I guess all my letters got immediate attention, because I see all my old classmates of fifteen years ago here at Green Mountain Lodge at Rockaway Beach, Missouri. I am now the owner of Green Mountain Lodge. You may remember me as Peggy McKinney. There go Robert Winnard and Tommy Rodgers to town arguing as usual. Robert sells Farmall tractors now and Tommy sells Fords. They're still in competition. James McCutchen is with them, but he isn't doing much talking. He is the owner of the Oklahoma Publishing Company, and he just sits around and keeps his ears open for news. Here come Mr. and Mrs. Terrell and their wealthy son Byron. Byron and his cousin have taken over the Anderson Brothers Pipe Line Company, and it is now called Terrell and Potter. Well, there’s Don Whitson (now a recording artist with Decca records) and Gaylon Stacy (a five-star General who now directs his boys' Choir, the Singing Sergeants) knocking on the door of Cabin One, but why should I be surprised. They're doing the same thing they were fifteen years ago, courting their high school sweethearts, Mary Nell Grady and Jane Gilmore. Mary Nell is still Don's accompanist. She has made quite a name for herself in records, too. Jane now owns an exclusive girls' Camp in Colorado. The door of Cabin Four is open and I see John Lackey, Cook Puckett, Donald Rolen, Sedall Brooks, and Pete Hill sitting there playing poker. John owns a gambling Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cook is his right hand man. I read in the paper the other day that Bud Wilkinson, Oklahoma University's Football coach, is resigning and that he chose Sedall to take his place. Donald Rolen is now the president of the Falstaff Beer Co., and Pete owns a Hereford Ranch somewhere between Tuttle and Minco. I hear he has a lot of cattle. There are Sam Echols and Donald Curry sitting at the dinner table talking about old times. They are both a success in their fields. Sam just finished a project of painting a life-size portrait of the President to hang in the White House. Donald, the tennis champion, won the Davis Cup just last month. Well, here come Melvin Crowder, Wayne Wilbanks, and Don Boettler, and their clothes are all wet. I guess they pulled the same stunt they did when we were here fifteen years ago. That is, tipped over in a canoe. Melvin Crowder is now with Merle Lindsay calling square dances. Wayne went to the Olympics last year to compete in the high jumping event. He is now widely known for winning first place. Don Boettler is now the notorious, steel-nerved shootin’ sheriff of Cole, Oklahoma. It's getting time to eat. I wonder where the rest of the girls are. 1 guess their bus was late. Everybody else is in the dining room, waiting to be served a chicken dinner furnished by Betty Harmon, who now owns Beverly s Restaurants. Here we are almost finished with our dinner, and look who is coming in singing' One Hundred Bottles of Beer on the Wall.' It’s Jackie Ramsey, Norma Harris, Doris Williams, Joan Burris, and Lavenna Williams. I guess they haven't forgotten the wide-awake club we organized on our Senior trip. Lavenna is a very famous model and was on Life's cover not too long ago. Jackie, Norma, Joan, and Doris are married now. Jackie married the new coach at Purcell, and Norma married Jerry Hale, who is a prominent engineer. Joan married Tubby Thomson, who is an engineer on a train, and by the way. she had her third baby not long ago on his train. Since they got married, she will hardly leave his side. Doris married the owner of the Pall Mall Tobacco Company and she looks very happy. Everybody is down in the Barefoot Club enjoying themselves, so I think I'll go down, pull off my shoes and get in the fun.
