FRESHMAN ACTIVITIES We found our Freshman year to be full and successful. We have taken part in almost all high school activities. Our class officers are as follows: Donald Brooks, president; Jaunice Gordon, vice president; Gene Crowder, reporter; Martha Thomson, secretary and treasurer. Mr. Nowlin, our sponsor, has helped our year to be an enjoyable one. Jimmy Richey is our representative to the Teen Town Council. A few of our girls who were in Glee Club, found music very much to their liking, and several freshmen have enjoyed being in the mixed chorus. Donald Brooks and Eugene Huffhines were the only freshmen to get suits in football; and Donald, who played left end, made the starting line-up. Most of the other freshmen boys were on the Junior High Football Team, while the Junior High Basketball Team consisted mostly of freshmen. The Junior High Girls' Team really brought us distinction. In the McClain County Tournament, their victories over Dibble and Washington brought them to the finals. However, the final game ended with Purcell 22 and Blanchard 19. Although we lost this decision, we are proud of our sportsmanship trophy, which was presented to us at the game. All the freshmen girls that go out for basketball went to the tournament except Dona Harmon, who was entered in the senior high game. Out of a group of forty-eight, only one, Gene Crowder, made the honor roll. We expect to do better next year. We have had a wonderful year and wish to make the next ones even better.
