Cfaaa .Mafory It was in September of 1944 that it all began--our great venture. Mrs. Freeman and Miss DuBose got us off on the right foot. We were bewildered and lost amid a world of giants, and it was at this time that we began to realize probably for the first time that there were other people inthe world with whom we had to learn to live and whose rights we must respect. By the second year, we had become a little more adjusted and were actually beginning to enjoy the friend-ships-many of which would last throughout our school days. The elementary years swiftly followed--years of good times that we'll never forget. There were bad times, too. Remember when we played under the old shell , and broke the windows with baseballs? ln September 1953 we had finally reached high school and ahead of us lay the four most important years of our lives. Never shall we forget those first class meetings, the money-raising projects, the ex- cltement of our boys going out for football, electing our own cheerlead- ers, and having the privileges of joining clubs the first time. lt was at this point that many of us enjoyed our first Junior-Senior Dance. Our Sophomore year found us beginning to assume more responsibilities such as having assembly programs, helping more toward the smooth- 16
