Mrs. Freeman and Miss DuBose got us off on the right foot. We were bewildered and lost amid a world of giants, and it was at this time that we began to realize probably for the first time that there were other people inthe world with whom we had to learn to live and whose rights we must respect. By the second year, we had become a little more adjusted and were actually beginning to enjoy the friend-ships-many of which would last throughout our school days. The elementary years swiftly followed--years of good times that we'll never forget. There were bad times, too. Remember when we played under the old shell , and broke the windows with baseballs? ln September 1953 we had finally reached high school and ahead of us lay the four most important years of our lives. Never shall we forget those first class meetings, the money-raising projects, the ex- cltement of our boys going out for football, electing our own cheerlead- ers, and having the privileges of joining clubs the first time. lt was at this point that many of us enjoyed our first Junior-Senior Dance. Our Sophomore year found us beginning to assume more responsibilities such as having assembly programs, helping more toward the smooth- 16 running of class and club activities, and participating in the District Literary Meet. During this year some of our members were tapped by the Beta Club-an honor that we had coveted for a long time. Our Junior year turned out to be a big one, and a year of hard work it really was. We started off with a bang by sponsoring the Halloween Carnival. Plans were made and carried out for a most successful Junior- Senior Banquet and Dance with a Hawaiian theme. This great social event turned out to be one of the best. As the year passed by, the day finally arrived when we could flash our class rings! Were we proud of them!! Overnight it seems we became seniors. Just one year left--time was really running out! We started off the year with a successful magazine and pansy drive, and a barbecue. Many hours were spent working on our annual. Days and nights were filled with hard work lessons, class projects, and club activities. Our last high school football, basketball and baseball games were being played. Finally came the last march down the aisle! Gone were the happy carefree days that we knew so well! Within the halls of BHS the memory of those happy days will linger on. The halls are silent now, the last diploma has been given out, and the members of the class of '57 have gone out to seek their places in the world. faiwx John Puckett Historian Nw X X XX. -g 1 -off 2 -ff 17 ew'-5 G66 l1yDLOCy June 20, 1967 Dear Diary, The Class of '57 have finally had their long awaited reunion. The only reason it was delayed so long was no one could get in touch with Ben Cooper. It seems Ben had turned explorer, and was so far in the African jungle he didn't even get our drum message. Ben finally arrived so the ceremonies could get under way. The speaker of the day, Professor Thomas Peters, who is said to be another Einstein, is wrlthing with impatience It seems he lost an X8f.Y and wants to go home to look for it. There seems to be a commotion in the back of the room. Oh, NO! Someone has talked Rossie Bell Nobles and Mary Love into doing their famous fan dance, without their fans! As the group settles back down to normal fwhich isn't very goody we learn of the hilar--pardon me--historical work each member of our class had done or ls doing. Terrell Willis ls posing for the Before ads for Charles Atlas. Annette Love and Rouzelle Earnest have gained great fame as the world's bravest lion tamers. Two of our former classmates are employed at Ciro's night club in Los Angeles. Calvin Loyless ls head dishwasher and Edward Harper gets rid of all the customers who get stlff. Dorothy Belisle has finally got her a Willis fcar, that ls.D Betty and Sue Williams are the wealthy owners of a chain of lingerie shops. They do most of their own modeling, but their highest paid model ls Barbara Loyless. The girl known ln the society circles of New York as DYNAMITE is known to us as Patricia Hobbs. She is here with her eighth husband. ' Holt Stokes is a famous brain surgeon. His latest victim--I mean patient was Henrietta Wiley, but after he operated he cou1dn't find much to work with. I I8 U June Still has started her own nursery. All the children to enroll so far have Jones for a last name. Wonder Why? Joan Puckett and joan Mansfield arrived in their private jet planes. They must have had good flying instructors up in the clouds. Billy Johnson is pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The bat boy is Thomas Perry. Fate Alexander and Royce Smith are librarians of the State Library. Royce is in charge of keeping quiet and peace. George Jones is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. His secretary is Pauline Williams. John Reid Stovall is our peace ambassador to Russia. His pal and confidential secretary is David Bush. Myra White is running a school for handling husbands. Her assistant in charge of the wife handling department is Johnny Middleton. Bob Spence is trying to find a drug to make his curly locks straight. Larry Culpepper is a professional wrestler. His trainer is Ephaly Bowman. Janette Jackson is president of the lonely hearts club in Georgia. Her vice President is Barney Brownlee. Loretta Harris and Gayle Farris have become nurses of the two best families in the U.S. Both poodles they care for won first place in the national dog show. Lewis Jones is being sued for damages to the Damascus road. His lawyer is Curtis Smith, We know the case will be a cinch with such a smart lawyer. Arnold Johnson ls model for a shoe factory.
