Bill Marton Shows Timeless Devotion To The Blake Schools Because of your enthusiasm, dedication, and genuine concern for the entire Blake community, the 86 Reflections staff sincerely dedicates this year's yearbook to you. You've gone beyond your commitment In the classroom to work for the benefit of others. The devotion that you have shown to the school is evident in the many ways that you've involved yourself in events and encouraged others to do so as well. Your abundant energy is easily received by others. Your devotion does not end with the final sigh of the academic year in June, but continues into the summer with Camp Acoma. Your immense interest in children and students makes you an outstanding director, advisor, and friend. Your valuable trust which each counselor and activity director wins, is forever cherished. Children laugh with you, flock to you, and even quake at your booming rendition of the Camp Acoma song. Extending your love and devoting your time to the Blake Schools is clearly shown in your flawless management of Camp Acoma. Your style in the dassroom is unique, not to mention effective. Freshmen are introduced to social studies through World Culture which becomes the base for all other courses offered. The individual attention and care you expend makes each student want to work and learn. American Culture for sophomores is charged with your ‘old war stories'. Three Wars and the advanced class Issues in American History offer juniors and seniors In depth views on difficult subjects. Your Incredible knowledge never ceases to amaze students. The dates pulled out of mid air, the names of old generals that come second nature to you add to the fun atmosphere of your classes. Will the second floor teachers ever become use to Marlon's voice echoing throughout the halls? We hope not. In addition to your dedication In the classroom, you have given much of your time to coaching which has been acknowledged by your admittance to the 25 Year Coaching Club. Those who you coached benefited from your dedication, humor and knowledge of the game. For years to come, your players will remember your enthusiasm and concern. Time After Time . . Blake Is The One! We never cease to demonstrate Blake’s unique ability to have a good time. Our sports teams are known to be tough competitiors to many other large public schools. Even though we are small, we seem to keep our position high on the list of excellence. The drama program has a reputation among other schools and social groups, as one of the best in the cities. The productions always deal with deep emotional issues, yet they are presented with a flair and professional aura. Each year brings incredible results from our debate and speech teams, often going as far as national tournaments. These teams have built a solid reputation throughout the state. These examples, however, exclude the real success of the Blake community: the remarkable students. The Blake student possesses a sort of energy that radiates wherever he or she may go, love for life that is rarely found these days. The maturity and respect shown to others also surprises many public insititutions the Blake school visits. As times change, these aspects of our personalities do not. That’s not to say every Blake student is the same, for we clearly are not. Each person contributes his own individual skills and talents to create the diverse atmosphere. With a Blake education behind us, we can only become better people, more caring, more understanding and more giving, as time goes by. 6 • Opening
