There is either never enough or always too much. It is ever present in our lives. Time, the main essence of our being. How does a Blake student combat this thing that has so many people in a complete frenzy? The answer is with careful planning and organization. But what Blakie leads a scheduled let alone passive life? At Blake we learn to value time, to spend it wisely, to use it to our best advantage and to appreciate the speed with which it travels. After all, that’s what life’s about. Just when time seems to slip through your fingers as you desperately run up the stairs to make it to a class on time; it turns on you and you find yourself nodding off during a test. These two extremes are often the only glimses we get of time; either too much or too little. We seem compelled here at Blake to cram our lives full of activities. To be involved someway with the school is not enough. A sport, the play, Spectrum or Debate consume every free minute outside of the normal school day. Every minute is full with dates, places and names. As a result we emerge as spectacular people, well rounded, having a list of credentials far outweighing the average student’s. Yet valuable time is lost. As we rush from activity to activity we become programmed, little alarms ring to tell us when to go on. This thing called time is tricky to master. Our best bet lies in treating time with respect. Take time out of that busy schedule we call life. Endless opportunities lie before us to grasp moments of job, peace and happiness. At Blake one thing we all realize is how time flies, whether you’re having fun or not, it really cruises by. So we present to you this memory book to capture the good times, the funny times even the tough times at Blake during 1985 and 1986. Rest assured, plenty of time was devoted to this production. Time is valuable, it carefully molds lasting friendships, vivid memories, forces a laugh or maybe even tears. So take the time to look at Blake and to remember the time of your life!! Opening • 3
