Womens Chorus Glee Club The 1985 1986 Womens Chorus, composed of both old and new members from all four classes, had a very strong year. Increased size and incredible enthusiasm gave Chorus a dazzling beginning at the Talent Show. Performance in the Madrigal Dinner and the Spring Concert also provided an opportunity for a diverse cross section of music, entailing folk, Renaissance, and popular pieces. This years co-presidents were seniors Liz Rasmussen and Wendy Nordstrom. With the patience and encouragement of Ginny Claes-sens and Sevrin Behnen, the Womens Chorus had an exciting and rewarding year. Front row: A. Stott. D. Mastrandrea. W Nordstrom. K. Ellis. S. Directed by Ms. Virginia Claessens and Severin Behnen the Men’s Club perfected over ten complicated pieces and even found time to have fun. The highlight of the year was a trip to Madison, Wisconsin where they wowed everyone with their good looks and quality singing. The trip and it's intricascies were painstakingly planned by officers Dion Crushshon, Jon Ebel. Matt Segal. Mark Pihlstrom, Mike Blum and Eric Priest. Mixed Co. Concert Choir Mixed Company, led by Robin Bennett and Dale Warner, is a small, select vocal ensemble made up of juniors and seniors from the Concert Choir. Mixed Company is the only coeducational. small singing group at the Blake Schools, adding greatly to the music program. The performances this year ranged from traditional concerts and a madrigal dinner to a concert at Park Nursing Home and tour singing. The repertoire of the group is basically jazz, classical, and pop. Though Mixed Company was composed of almost all newcomers, it has had a very successful year. First row: B. Lucas. N. Chapman. B Hale. T. Gunderson. T Anderson. L. Schmoker Second row: B. Anderson. H Lieberman. B. Hodder. E. Cohen. R. Bennett. D. Warner. Creating, captivating, and charismatic are three words to describe the 1985-86 Concert Choir. Under the directions of Ginny Claessens, and Severin Behnen, this years choir has proved to be one of Blake’s strongest singing groups. Although the number of Choir members has dropped by almost half over the last years, it remains to be an overwhelming success. This year the choir elected to have it second Madrigal dinner, which was able to surpass the success of last years. The group featured delicate sounds at the Talent Revue and Spring Concert as well. Without a doubt, this year’s Concert Choir was the best that Blake has ever had. Front row: G. Claessens. B Anderson. L. Rasmussen. T. Gunderson. K Loken. S. Weinberg. L Schmoker. R. Bennett. D. Blaker’s Dozen All That Jazz The Dozen has had an amazing year. The sales alone from their cassette of the 1985 group really shows how much the group is respected and loved by the Blake community. The 1986 Dozen crew is every bit as successful as the Blakers of years past. A new lineup of songs as well as members, lead by David Priest, Dan Goldner, and Erich Zeiss, have proven just as effective, if not moreso, in demonstrating the group’s ability and talent range. They are always a pleasure to hear. Front row: M. Phllstrom, C. Passi. B. Watson. D. Goldner. M. Hatfied. Second row: D. Bergerson. D. Priest. M. Segal. B. Druskin. Third row: G. Ebcl. N. Alsip, M. Blum. All That Jazz, headed by Lisa Schmoker and Rachel Rubenstein, is a small women’s singing ensemble made up of freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. With the guiding hand of Ginny Claes-sens, Jazz performed wonderfully in the Talent Show. The group also sang beautifully at the second Madrigal dinner, in December, singing many acapella madrigals from the Renaissance era. Their performance in the Spring Concert was a perfect way to finish their year; they sang with a strong sense of energy and excitement. First row: L. Rasmussen. C. Nelson, T. Os-sana. S. Bearson. L. Horton. Second row: B. James. R. Rubenstein. L. Schmoker. J. Snyder, J. Pervis. D, Malmon. 24
