Time Flies When You’ Having Fun! Summer ’85 What could be better than having endless amounts of time on your hands? Nothing! Spending lazy days outside, under the warm sun. and of course working on your tan both constitute summer. That blissful state we all float around in for three homework free months ends all too soon. Yet time ia no part of summer, who ever wears a watch during July? Only those over ambitious people who prefer furthering their educations through jobs. To sacrifice those dreamy mornings by jumping out of cool sheets to get to work on time truley deserves recognition. The summer worker however, enjoys his or her free time more so than those who sleep until 2:00 p.m., catch the last part of General Hospital and then get ready for that nights party only to return home at 2:00 A M. (if at all). That’s what summertime is for-to-do only what you want to do. Those fortunate enough to travel experience peak seasons abroad as well as at home. How can you top mountain climbing snow covered ridges in Washington as your back to school theme on “What I did During Summer Vacation”? Summer maintains the Blakies sanity during those cold Minnesota months. When loaded down with homework, rehersals and meetings where does the mind wander to? Of course. Mid-afternoon at Lake Harriet in late June. The mind remembers tank tops, shorts, bathing suits-all of which seem non existent while agonizing through a Chemistry exam in January. The Blake student confesses his or her excitement to return to school in early September, not to start new classes, but to talk about, what else, their fabulous summer. Memories made during the summer seem much more vivid for some reason. Yes. time flies when your having fun. but oh. what fun you had! 2 Summer • 11
