WE MovE THE soPHoMoREs SOPHOMORE Jay Grumbling ,,,,,,, Elio Calabrese ,,,,,.... Gwendolyn Bailey ,,,,,, Gail McCombs ,,,,...., Miss Wirdzek .,..,, OFFICERS President Vice President Secretary Treasurer Adviser lt has been fun being sophomores. We began the year by electing these capable oft cers from our classmates: Jay Grumbling, president, Elio Calabrese, vice president, Gail McCombs, treasurer, and Gwen Bailey, secretary. Miss VVirdzek was chosen as our adviser. Along with our drive for dues, a bake sale, a hayride, and a skating party were held in order to raise money for the main event ot the year, our own Sophomore Hop. Everyone worked hard tor it, and was well repaid at the dance where we all had a grand time. In April the class put on an assembly program under the direction of Miss Hfmrneger, Eng- lish teacher. Our class contributed many to the band, those twirling batons were Barbara Cyphers, head maior- ette, Dorothy Grdgon, Anita Spiardi, and lome Sm'th, the musicians included Percy Moore, W. A. Reed, Marilyn Keil, Vera Ferarra, Jane Spicher, Bob Vance, Gayle Weinell, Gail McCombs, Clayton Culbert- son, Joan Noble, Bob Streeter, Bob Dunlap, Paul McKee, Frank Speedy, Glenn Baron, Leonard Luchsinger, Bob McClellan, John Yelenic, Ralph Maskrey, and Bob Citroni. Others, adding to the school's music by singing in chorus, were Glenn Baron, Robert Citroni, Lois Bench, Dorothy Hebenthal, Lucille Hilliard, Paul McKee, Betty Keller, Beatrice Dorazio, Verta Mae Beard, Barbara Cyphers, Velma Bertoncini, Giant Gibson, Freddie McGowan, Mary Dettorre, Wynona McAtee, Shirley Gindlesberger, Joan Noble, Gwen Bailey, Vivian Kim, and Marilyn Keil. In sports, our classmates were very promInent. On the varsity football teams were Jay Grumbl- ing, Elio Calabrese, Charles Constantino, and Bob Delcoco. On the Jay Vee team, composed largely of sophomores, were Nick Vladic, Ed Yoschak, Bob Miller, Nelson Rager, Al Pesci, Bob Streeter, Glenn Baron, Bill Graff, Tony D'Attilio, Gail M:Combs, Fred McGowan, and Freddie McGowan. ln varsity basketball we cheered for Jim Grott, Jay Grumbling, Bob Miller, Bob Streeter, Nelson Rager, and Elio Calabrese. We were proud, too, of the Jay Vees, including Gail McCombs, Glenn Baron, Clif? Fails, Fred McGowan, Freddie McGowan, Paul M:Kee, and Bob Dunlap. Representing us in wrestling were Charles Constantino, Nick Vladic, and Jim Gilmore. We have all enjoyed being sophomores and having more privileges given us, but are looking for- ward anxiously to filling the seats of the iuniors.
