WE MEET THE STUDENT TEACHERS HOME ECONOMICS STUDENT TEACHERS Blairsville has co-operated with the Home Eco- nomics Department, State Teachers College, Indiana, Pennsylvania in permitting practice Teachers to meet state requirements by serving here under the super- vision of Mrs. Virginia T. Kelly, Head, and Miss Betty Baird, Home Economics teacher. Eight future teachers have been with us for nine weeks each during the year. We like these young people and hope they also enioyed their work with us. Teachers present with us during the first quarter were Mariorie Dellar of Johnstown and June Kunkle of McKeesport, for the second quarter were Betty Wallace of New Florence and Katherine Weimer of Ligonier, Lois Heeter of Brookville and Ann Kapera of Barnesboro arrived for the first half of the second semester, finally Gretchen Gardner of Indiana and Alice Cassidy of Slaystown came about April I to complete the year. With the retirement of Mrs. Kelly about March I, Mrs. James Dick of Indiana was added to the staff as a fullrtime teacher. COMMERCIAL STUDENT TEACHERS Blairsville High School Commercial Department was augmented this year in its teaching staff by I6 student teachers from State Teachers College, lndi- ana, Pa., who fulHlled Practicing Teaching require- ments under the supervision of Miss Elsie G. Garlow. We have enioyed having them with us and trust that our various mischievous acts have at least partly prepared them for their teaching duties next fall. The student teachers during the tTrst semester were Mary Agnes Dodds of Snydertown, Ann Halama of Aliquippa, Ellen Sayers of Sligo, Lucille Schoen- berger of Johnstown, Lorraine Swanson of Kane, and Rose Taucher of Broughton. The following student teachers were here dur- ing the second semester: Mabel Bowman of Tyrone, William Cartwright of Houston, Elizabeth Griftiths of Versailles, Louise Horger of Scranton, Rught Hornick of Johnstown, Eleanor Jenkins of Shingle- house, Evelyn Kuhns of Uniontown, Margaret Sah- laney of Houtzdale, Wilma Speicher of Boswell, Russell Whittaker of Fallen Timber.
