Class History On August 27, 1945, an atomic bomb dropped on Blairstown school and twelve atoms with bright shining faces fell out. This was the first day of school -for: Bonnie Becker, Eldon Burkhart, Charlotte Doud, Niles Hartz, Billy Kleiman, Susan Newton, Gary Niebuhr, Carol Oberreuter, Larry Ohlen, Linda Van Steenhuyse, and jim Wodstrchill . Larry Brunssen joined us during the year. The world has started research for the use of atoms for world peace . During this research many new atoms were found, so as we progressed through lst grade we found: Donald Martin, Robert Reinhardt, Gary Wandling, Marvin Walter, Darlene Schulte, Elaine Simmons, Gary Kimm, Lynn Hutton, Karen Tranberry, james Kovar, and Kenneth johnson added. Mrs . Elma Harden Wright led us through this first year of research. Second grade found us with two new atoms: Gerald Hutton and Danny Peck. We found that we had lost Lynn Hutton and Kenneth johnson at the beginning of the year. Gerald Hutton and Larry Brunssen moved away during the year. Third grade our new additions were Iudith Minnaert and Dale Mottet . Cur losses were james Kovar, Gary Niebuhr, and Gary Kimm. In fourth grade research was traveling right along and we gained Kenneth and Ronald Iuett, but they dropped out after only a short time with us . Mr. Iohn Hunt left us and Mr. R. B. Pollock took charge of the complete research. Gary Niebuhr rejoined us in the fifth grade. Calling roll of the atoms in sixth grade we found that we had lost Larry Ohlen, Gary Wandling, and Dale Mottetp but we had gained David Mooney, and Arlene Pant. Miss jean Baer stepped up as leader in our department. Seventh grade found us with four new atoms: Phyllis Karr, Pat Krueger, Gene Bell, and Dale Mottet. We lost David Mooney in the spring of the year. Eighth grade and we are approaching our goal for atoms for peace . Arlene Pant was not here to help us from that time on. Raymond Grendler joined us, but left toward the middle of the year. Donald and Erma Pence made a short visit to our laboratory. Mr. Colvin came to replace Mr. Pollock as head of the complete laboratory. At last! Our research is in the experimental stage. Roll call was answered by these atoms: Bonnie Becker, Eldon Burkhart, Gene Bell, Charlotte Doud, Niles Hartz, Susan Newton, Gary Niebuhr, Robert Reinhardt, Carol Oberreuter, Darlene Schulte, Elaine Simmons, Karen Tranberry, Linda Van Steenhuyse, Marvin Walter, Iim Wodstrchill, Pat Krueger, and Rosetta Lacher. What a bunch of green freshmen we were. We lost Gene Bell during the year. Two of our atoms lost their radio-activity and Elaine Simmons and Pat Krueger dropped out of the sophomore year. Now we will let you in on a secret. We have launched our atomic submarine! Gary Niebuhr no longer answered to roll call our junior year. A foreign particle strayed by and we picked him up. This atom goes by the name of Ron Yardley. We lost Bonnie Becker shortly thereafter. Our first atomic power plant was opened and Sue Newton dropped out of the management in our senior year. We have come a long way in our research and we hope that tomorrow you will see us fueling the rocket ships to the moon.
