Semor Pla This year the Senior Llass gave as their annual play a drama that had been a h1t on Broadway and was even made into a movle This play Snafu by Louis Solomon and Harold Buchman was as big a hit ln Blalrstown as xt had proved to be m New York A Damocles Sword hung over the Senlols at their many rehearsals and was present up to the opening night We feared that the movie would be released before our version could be performed spollmg the plot and ll'lCld9I'ltlW Llllilllg down ticket sales Foltunately Hollywood was slower than our actors wno were urged on to their best efforts by Mr Dunning our dxrector It tv ts profitable therefore financially to the Senior Class and in the pleasure lt gave the audience who crowded our auditorium to capacity the two mghts tt was glven Snafu unterpreted Situation Normal All Fouled Up' IS a comedy on what might happen to a returning but misunderstood war teteran That this war veteran IS only sixteen and had been discharged when his true age was discovered made the play extremely funny and dtd ln no way detract from the advice given by a Colon el ln the last act on the so called problem of the returning soldier This speech gave the play a message hat we feel may keep other veterans from finding their own posltlons snafu The parents of our veteran fearing some avs ful changes must have taken place during his stay ln the army completely mxsmterpret ms every moye Hts posltlon is ln no wax helped by the action of his girl s aunt whose exert speech lends confusion to the scene or by the not too helpful asslstance of the school psychiatrist When Ron the hero finds himself mvolved with a senator a reporter a detective and an army friend not to mention the dean of a womens college and an Australian war brlde things really Degm to happen much to the audtences enyoyment Add to this assortment a Mexican mald with a talent to make mapproprxate remarks at the rlght time and his mothers and fathers feeble attempts to understand hun then you have the ingredients of an entertaxnmg and lnterestmg play The parts were very well cast and eterxore turned tn a fine performance Due to a slight shortage of Senior boys a Jumox was cast as the Legxonnalre We believe our set was one of the nicest Senior sets ever mane and much credit along with our thanks should go to Mr Falrer and the Art Club and Mr Chamberlaxn and the Ag boys Fine work was also turned in by those Seniors behind the scenes who took charge of lighting and sound effects It was the able dlrectxon of 'Vlr Dunning that made this play the success it was breaking all previous attendance and final cial recolds at B H S and we extend our fullest thanks The cast lncluded Josephma a Mexican maid Madge Stevens Ronalds mother Laura Jessup a student tn JOUTIIBIIGIYI Ben Stevens Ronalus father Mr 'laylox school psychologist Aunt Emily Kates aunt Senator Phil Ford Legmnnalre Ronald Stevens 16 year old veteran Pic Danny Baker Mrs Garrett Dean of the college Detective Mar'ha Australian brtde Colonel West O Page Twenty fout Catherme Cajantxs Barbara Bair Norma Pennell Gordon Beegle Robert Cooke Shirley Newbaker Joseph Foley Flwyn Barker Frank Jones Fred Buehler Gertrude Walker William Walters Marie Van Sxcklf.
