emor Class Hlstor , 1946 FRESHMAN YEAR One brlght September mormng B H S saw '19 new members added to the school the class of 1946 We were statloned Iso to speakh ln Room 7 under the dlrectlon of Mxss Ott and thanks to her we were kept on the rxght road We started out very well m the athletnc field wlth Frank Jones Gordon Beegle Fred Beuhler and Vmce Gleason on the J V Bask tball team Audrev Kennedy and Mane Van Syekle became very actlve on the cheering squad Et eryone wondered whether we would vlslt Ne Iv York or Washington D C on the all Important Senior Trip but by thus time we reallred that we had to work hard to make enough monev to go elther place Our campalgn for funds began bx collectmg class dues and sponsorlng several dances SOPHOMORE YEAR Back agam We re up sta1rs but thls year under the supervmsxon of Mrs Tonge the commercxal teacher We feel a lnttle better thls year because we have outgrown the tltle of the Green Freshmen It has come to our attentron that Sophomore llterallx means foollsh wxse men seems fittmg Th1s year we were aga n :ery vtell represented 1n Athletics vuth Walt Stankowxtz on the VHTSIQQ Basketball squad and our Three Musketeers Frank Fred and Chip on the Jumor VBTSIQL Several of our boys and glrls received B s or numerals for their work lh athletxcs Shlrley Newbaker Joined the ranks as a cheerleader thls xear Some nf the g1rls took part m the Max Daw program glv n outslde this year by smgmg wxth the Glee Club ushermg or takmg part ln the May Pole dance JUNIOR YEAR We entered our third year tn thc ection of the underground known as the Ag room or under Vround but the change was vers vsell recexved Mr Chamherlam who IS an old hand at Junlors took us unde has vung and saw to lt that me flmsbed the ear m perfect condltton Some of our classmates took ox er nn the 'Hall and Safetv Patrols Nhen last vears Seniors left for thelr trlp to New York We also helped the Semors out rn a dxfferent may by usherlng at then plat Yes slr e e e e we re proud of our bovs Why' ' well five of them are on the Varslty Basket ball squad and a larger percentage on the softball squad One of the blggest events was when we recezved our class rmgs After a long de av and much anxious waltmg they finally arrived on Februarv 14 wh ch made them the nxcest Valentmes we would get March 16 we had a St Patrlcks Dav Dance which was enjmed by all mcludmg our bank account The four leaf lm er vmas used extensxvelx as 'ln apptoprrate decoration and the streamers were green and whlte Both round and square dance were played and all ln all xt was verw successful an thexr footsteps dld a scrx lT1c1ent .ob Also about thls time one of our buvs Elmcr Cowell left to 10 n the Navv In June we had the hon -r of clung a farewell dance to the Class of 1945 and of bxddmg them success ln evervthxng thev do Thvs dance vsas of course the annual Jumor Prom Agam trymg for somethmg new ln the decoratmg field vue made an mdoor garden Naturallv there were flowers and streamers to give a gay sprmgtzme effect but be ng verv reallstlc decorators we also used fir trees fl and a vxhmte pxcket fence The fence used to border the dance floor was made by our boss ln the Ag shop The class as a whole next decvled thex were hungrv and the first Jumor Banquet was held at the Columbra Hotel There we not only establ shed a precedent but had a verv nlce tlme as well 'Luce the Semors couldnt graduate and usher at the sam trme our gurls were gwen the pleasure of usherlng for them at both Commencement and Baccalaureate servlces This gave us a prevxew of next year s commg attractlon and we then had some Idea of what to expect SENIOR YEAR Earlv ln September 4a we started down our last mxle wxth Mr Dunnmg to guxde the was From the begxnnmg of the year we started to earn money for the much thought about Semor trlp to Washmgton D C Yes the xmportant question had at last been settled and we were the first class smce the wars start to go to Washmgton And were we glad Well we were only the happlest class ln the school thats all One source of lncome thus year was from our dramatic productlon Snafu a comedy dlrected bv Mr Dunnmg Thls comedy was very well recelved and almost everyone ln Blalrstown attended lf were to Judge by the well crowded audxtorlum on both mghts the play was gnven While we were pxactxcmg for our play we were also sellmg Christmas Cards whlch helped ralse our bank account Later m the year we agam turned to the profitable trade of card sellmg and sold note paper Durlng the momentous davs of Max 7 to 10 our class w nt on a trip to Washington D C whxch proved to be well worth the tlme and effort spent maklng our dr am a reallty We saw all the wel' known spots and some ot the less vtell known It was a trxp well never forget and we re glad we had an opportunity to VIS11 our Nation s Capitol Th1s vear we were on the recexvmg end cf the Jumor Prom and we grudgmgly admztted that the Juniors could land d1d'l do a fine decoratmg lob The annual Semor Banquet was held on June 6 and everyone enJoyed xt The end of the year was near by this time so wc started practlcmg for our graduation exerctses Then the Great Day' Baccalaureate Servxees were held on June 9 with a large crowd attending Commencement was held the followmg Fnday evemng Thxs was a very memorable evenlng and also very sad as we were leavmg our frlends and classmates Some of us will go to college and others wxll take thexr places m the world but each one shall always remember has hrgh school days at B H S We wxsh to thank Mr Chamberlam and the Jumor glrls for usherxng and decoratmg for us at both Baccalaureate and Commencement Our class IS also very grateful to Mr Farrer and the faculty and especxally Mr Dunmng for helpmg us over the
