Winning, Natural For Bears This was Blair's first year as a member of the Twin River’s Conference. The Bears easily rolled over their only conference com- petition, Syracuse. By the end of the season a 6 — 3 record had been accumulated. The season started well with victories over Westwood, Iowa, and South Sioux City. Then Schuyler defeated the Bears in a heart-breaking, injury-filled game at Schuyler. Missouri Valley, Iowa fell in the Homecoming game by a small margin. The following week, Blair lost to the Rams at Ralston in a different Homecoming game. Syracuse and Wahoo fell as victims of the Blair Bears toward the end of the season. It was Blair's first year on their own court and in their own gym. which pro- vided some of the most modern facilities in the area for both the home and visiting teams. It was also Blair’s first year of competition in the Twin River's conference. The Bear’s biggest first was probably that Blair ex- perienced its first winning season in nine years. This success is credited to the ex- pert coaching of Coach Mosser and to the outstanding ability on the varsity team. The team had an up and down season during the first half of the year until they got it all together and won six games in a row with hopes of going to state, only to lose to Omaha Paul VI in the final seconds.
