McGillicuddy Has His Night Blair students broke tradition this year by producing an all-school play instead of separate Junior and Senior class plays. Miss Jensen, director, chose a comedy written by Leonard Wibberly entitled McGillicuddy McGotham. It told the story of a leprechaun sent to the United States as an ambassador from the little people of Erin. Because only those of Irish descent could see and hear him, the resulting incidents were quick-moving and hilarious. The main characters were David Alback as McGillicuddy, Sandra MckKinnisasMrs. O'Connor, Gary Finn as Brian. Susan Dountas as Peg, Karen Olsen ■ as Miss Totenhot, and Larry Rosenbaum as Mr. Snitwitz. Supporting cast included Sharon Apperson, Lyle Schjodt, John Nielsen, and Carole Schafersman. Back-stage, Melissa Christiansen, script girl; Debbie Jensen, student director; and Duane Aten, technical director helped to make the play a success. 85 Barbara Juul ages fast. Birdie, a contemporary musical comedy by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams, under the direc- tion of Mr. Carlsen. Halfbacks Jon Lippincott, senior, and Mike Thompson, sophomore, led the Blair ground attack. Four all-conference selections anchored Blair’s line: seniors Roger Lorsch, tackle; Merle Hansen, guard; Terry Brechbill, end; and Dennis Brummer, split end. Other notable Bears were Rich Hansen, junior, and Larry Babcock, senior, blocking ends; Bob Everhart, senior, guard; Roger Stricklett, junior, center; Roger Johnson, senior, tackle; Lowell Moore, junior, quarterback; Doug Sieckmeyer, junior, full- back; and Dick Husk, senior, defensive back. Blair lettermen who were regulars were Paul Rabbass, Jim Ellingson, Bruce Stricklett, and Norm Wilson, seniors; Dean Cemer, Dan Thompson, Jim Fedde, Steve Larsen, Dennis Johnson, Clark Matzen, juniors; Mickey Rouse and Mike Edwards, soph- omores. Denny Buummer catches an aerial. Brummer breaks across goal line. Thompson is stopped after first down gain. Hansen decks a Cardinal. Thompson rolls up yardage against Holy Name. 91 Varsity basketball squad, back row; Denny Brummer, Roger Lorsch, Jerry Kruse, Rich Hansen, AigarsDeklavs, Lowell Moore, Dick Husk. Second row: Dean Cemer, Jon Lippincott, Terry Brechblll, Coach Rainlorth, Dan Frost, Mike Thompson. Bears’ Faces Reflect Gloomy Season The Blair Bears, young but experi- enced, showed increased determination as the season progressed. The year was disappointing to many Bear followers, who saw the team beaten in the last few minutes or in overtime due to their anxious offense mistakes. During the season, all twelve of the varsity squad members showed deter- mination and desire, and experience was gained for next year's squad. Blair's varsity lettermen can be considered one of the most hustling groups in the conference, in which they finished second only to Papillion, a state tourney entrant. Blair's 7-11 record shows much room for improvement; but if experience is the key to success, the Bears should have a first-class ball club next year. Blair High basketball players initiated the first Basketball century club. Rich Hansen led with 512 points, and Lowell Moore was second with 349. Blair's regulars included seniors Aigars Deklavs, Roger Lorsch, Dick Husk and Dan Frost; juniors Lowell Moore, Dennis Brummer, and Rich Hansen; and sophomore Mike Thompson. Other letter- men were Terry Brechbill, Jon Lippincott, Jerry Kruse, and Dean Cemer. Aigars hits for two against Ralston. Lorsch and Hansen scramble for rebound against Ralston. Thompson drives for two points against Ralston. Rainforth gives overtime instructions. Hustling after ball, Brummer Is sandwiched by Tekamah players. Thompson scores on a steal against Tekamah. 1966-67 Blair Basketball Record Blair 7—11 Opponent 53 Wayne 73 62 Ashland 52 58 Fremont Bergan 62 40 Norfolk 73 57 Millard 65 59 Nebraska City 54 67 Tekamah 62 63 Millard 61 54 Missouri Valley 56 60 South Sioux City 66 47 Ralston 61 28 Papillion 63 63 Wahoo 57 50 Holy Name 72 63 Plattsmouth 61 62 Columbus 74 63 Albion 46 54 Schuyler 66 Reserve basketball squad, back row: Coach Joexpi, Rick Wilson, Clark Matzen.
