The Bears combined three ingredi- ents for their tremendous season this year--hard work, plenty of talent, and most of all, esprit de corps. After finishing the regular 9 game schedule, undefeated, the Bears de- feated Plattsmouth in the Ak-Sar-Ben Conference play-off game. Blair outscored theiropponents 294 to 58. John Drbal and Ron Schneider were the leading scorers. Cal Sackett was the leading pass receiver. The Flynn brothers, Ade and Pat, and Brent Peterson were the defensive standouts. Five members of the squad made the Ak-Sar-Ben Conference team. They were John Drbal, Adrian Flynn, Steve Grenier, Brent Peterson and Stuart Schettler. The honorary captains of the 1964- 65 squad were Steve Grenier and Brent Peterson. Watching the coach can be very interesting, also, as you can see from the following portraits of our own coach Rainforth. Stay with your man. HOMECOMING 1964 The Bears opened the Homecoming season this year with an exciting 21-7 victory over the Ralston Rams on Friday night. At half-time the winners of the poster contest and the finalists for king and queen were announced. The Juniors took first place in the poster contest with Inching Our Way to Victory, and the Seniors came in second with Bears Make the World Go 'Round. The Six finalists were Rae Janean McKenzie, Jane Andreasen, Nancy Thompson, John Drbal, Steve Grenier, and Brent Peterson. Saturday night contained the magic moment for Queen Rae and King John. They were crowned by last year's Queen and King, Gladys Christensen and George Christensen, and they reigned over the tra- ditional Homecoming dance. COUNTY GOVERNMENT DAY The Juniors went all out to campaign for County Government Day this year. The candidates all had catchy slogans, funny costumes and hats, ana colorful campaign posters. And, as is the case every year, it was very hard to vote. Those that won received a day's vacation from school so that they could go over to the court house and run the affairs of Washington County for the day. It proved a valuable experience for all who participated, and it was something that they will never forget. At 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 13, they loaded into a cattle truck at Vet's Field for the trip over. The whole day was spent swimming, sunning, hiking, boating, and water skiing. The night meal was a large weinner roast. Most every- one agreed that they had had a wonder- ful time, but a few were heard to say that they wouldn't go again next year. '3 km Mr. Otte!
