An outside director, nationally known, is hired to direct and teach it. This gives the students from different schools a chance to know one another, promotes better relations between schools, and improves singing. A high spot for out- standing members of our Chorus was the state wide clinic: held at Beatrice on November 18th, 19th, and 20th. Our Chorus and town was well represented by Mary Jo Andrews, Rosalyn So- rensen, Marlene Svendgard, Ellen Nyholm, Charles Campbell, and Leland Svendgaard. It was directed by Mr. Ray Weckmuller, with assistance from Miss Nielsen. The plot centers around Miss Brooks, an over-worked high school English teacher. Because she is such an ambitous worker, the principal puts her in charge of the Senior Play. The problems and difficulties she finds in her way make it an interesting and humorous story. The cast consisted of: Miss Brooks, a high school English teacher, played by Thelma Chris- tensen: Miss Finch, another teacher--Peggy Swingholm: Hugo Longacre, the school coach-- Larry Wulf: Mr. Wadsworth, the self-satisfied principal--Bob Swedberg: Miss Audubon, the grou- chy band director--Kay Beth Sappenfield. The following were students: Elsie--Pat Arterburn: Elaine - - Lois Hass: Jane - - Ellen Nyholm: Sylvia - - Barbara Booton: Doris - -Patsy McCor- mick: Marge - - Kay Bednar: Faith - - Audrey Nelson: Rhonda - - Shirley Bohs: Ted - - Ronnie Newell: Martin -- Jerry Clements: Stanley -- Bill Hunt: and Mrs. Allen - - Yvonne Carmichael.
