The reorganization of Iunior High has given much better oppor- tunity for extra curricular work. The Iuior High operetta, Love Pirates of Hawaii, was given in Novem- ber. This won high praise from those who saw it. Mary Louise Moran, Cath- erine Ienkins, Don Bellows and Wayne Dudgeon had the leading parts. There were thirty in each of the boys' and girls' choruses. Under the direction of Mr. Masser, a Iunior High basketball team was trained. This team took part in the district tournament at Decatur and won second place. Those who did actual playing were Harold Hansen, Herbert Kolterman, Ray Hansen, Wayne Dudgeon, Billie Harrison, Patrick Quinlan, Arthur Stevens, Donald Nemetz, Leroy Bucklin, Iack Maher, and Earl Wal- rath. Later they won a home game against Calhoun. In the spring thirty boys turned out for track. Track meets were scheduled with Calhoun, Kennard, and Arlington. Twenty-Seven

Secretary and Trcaxurer Sophomore Class Activities According to their own words, We've been kicked and pushed around, but that doesn't keep us from doing what the others dof, The Sophomores proved their strength in all school activities. Four Sophomore boys, George Camp- bell, Russell Sylvis, Edgar Short, and Ioe Iohnston, lettered in football and the class also made a very good showing in basketball and track. They were repre- sented in 613' Club by Charlotte Armstead, and in Declamatory by Ruth Mor- gan, Marjorie Kuhr, Bertha Iensen, Esther Carlson, Dorine Glasgowe, and Viola Nelsen. Now here's the grand surprise. In the Home Declamatory con- test, the Sophomores received two first places and one third. Esther Carlson was first in Dramatic and Ruth Morgan third. Dorine Glasgowe was first in Humorous. The class may Well be proud of these girls. Next year, it is hoped that being Iuniors will not sever from these Sopho- mores their charm and ability. Several convocations have been enjoyed during the year. One of these was arranged from Iunior High talentg the others were hired entertainers. Mr. White trained several contestants for the County Spelling Contest. Mary Louise Moran won first in oral and entered the state contest. A Dramatic Club was organized under the direction of Miss King. The members presented a Christmas program. Mary Louise Moran was elected president. A Folk Dancing Club was organized and directed by Miss McGill. Several dances were studied and learned. The club was handicapped by not being able to secure a suitable room for work. Toward the end of the year Mr. DeGroff began training a Iunior High Boys' Glee Club. Georgia Antill, Elly Marie Larsen, Iulius Peterson, Leora Wrick, and Mary Louise Moran took part in the declamatory contest. None of these placed but were given much encouragement by the judge. Thus we close a successful year for the newly organized Blair Iunior High School. Twenty-Eiglil,
