Swiftness on the Snowy Slopes During the Spring break of I984, stu- dents of Blair took to the slopes of the picturesque mountain area of Creste Butte in Colorado. In preparation for this exciting annual trip, the large and eager group of eighty students had helpful dem- onstrations on the use and care of equip- ment and ski safety. Ski films were an en- ioyable part of the program. In November, the club went to see Warren Miller's fea- ture length film, Ski Time at the Shrine Auditorium, for the benefit of the Handi- capped Skiers Foundation of California. The ski trip itself was very successful. Everyone went skiing during the day, re- turning in the afternoon or early evening to their comfortable and semi luxurious T . - suites. Six to eight people accommodated a suite and shared a common cooking fa- cility. i The trip was aimed at providing an op- portunity for students to enjoy the com- pany of other students ,through the sport of skiing. X The trip was not only exciting and ex- hilarating, but it was also a great way of keeping fit, a much needed benefit during a week which centered around eating as much as skiing. Budding Movie Buffs The Film Fan Club met occasionally with Ms. Downhower and Mrs. Russell to men- tally and socially enjoy quality films to- gether. Among the films they saw were Star- struck, Rear Window. and Fannie and Alexander. Other activities included a pleasant visit to the Barnstall Art Museum. The club chose some unique and beauti- ful designs for buttons which they sold in October. This project proved to be a very prosperous one. Their major activity for the year was to sponsor the Great American Smoke-Out. They showed a film about smoking and passed around pamphlets. An idea, which was very popular with the student body, was to rent videos and view them after school. It was activities like this that made the Film Fan Club one of the most enjoyable. Film Fan 7l
