Donation of Time and Care Blair underwent a beautification pro- cess this year thanks to the unending en- ergy of the members of the Red Cross club. Benches and bathrooms were paint- ed and the campus was cleaned up. Many members of the club are also members of the Pasadena Red Cross Asso- ciation and greatly contributed to the club with many ideas for fundraisers and ac- tivities. One of the main activities sponsored by the club was the annual blood drive which proved to be quite successful despite the number of people who aren't particularly fond of needles. The Red Cross Club did much volunteer work around the campus and in the com- munity. Their hard work will always be appreciated. :lv 0 I , f ' ' l -! - t. ll ' Above. Making a lot of Racket Mr. Charles Lamb was the advisor for yet another active sports club. Tennis. The main purpose of the club was to finance the boys and girls tennis teams. In order to raise money for team uniforms they arranged a mug sale in the fall. This proved to be very popular for parents and students alike because of the attractive design of the Blair Viking on the mugs. lt was a good idea for Christmas presents too. Other activities of this lively bunch in- cluded a ten-a-thon. Students were spon- sored by various people according to the number of games played. This brought in quite a bit of money. The election of officers was a big event because the' strong cabinet is what kept the club on its feet. The club was headed by Presidents Philip Kramer and Henry Willis, Vice-President Chi Vo, Secretary Alex Palmer. Treasurer Elke Kostelac. l983 turned out to be a fun year for all and the tennis teams appreciated the club's help. 54 Tennis -,W I l l l 1, ll Above: Nick Woods is ama ed at the effectiveness of his top spin. Going Places, eeing New Faces . . . This year Blair played host to four AFS students: Kevin Armaratunga from Sri Lanka, Sania Basic from Yugoslavia, Shaunagh Mullett from England and Ka- trien Vermeulen from Belgium. Each one shared tales of their country, ways of life and feelings regarding American living. The purpose of the club was to create interest and excitement in Blair students concerning the opportunities to make ap- plication themselves. No matter where the destination. the experience would in- evitably be remembered and could possi- bly change their way of thinking, as well as life. Mrs. Gladys Roshko was a lively and ac- tive advisor. Many activities were ar- ranged throughout the year. A Christmas Row If Sonia Basic. Shaunagh Mullett. Katrien Vermeulen, Kevin Armara- tunga.
