You later see a French movie and dine at a French restaurant. Where are you? In France? No. you are a member of Blair's French Club. Headed by Mr. Olaf Liden, the club pro- vided its members with a French atmo- them a taste of what France is actually like without having to visit the country. The club dined at French restaurants, saw hundreds of slides from Europe, en- ioyed numerous French movies and even had an occasional French breakfast in sphere and gave class. Learning about French culture, cuisine, and history made learning the language all the more fun. Vive le French Club!! ::..g' ijgiiifiilfig --flip 'H ff 1 33:11:15 N JMS . 'WT1 1 es, . Going Places, Seeing New Faces . . . This year Blair played host to four AFS students: Kevin Armaratunga from Sri Lanka, Sanja Basic from Yugoslavia, Shaunagh Mullett from England and Ka- trien Vermeulen from Belgium. Each one shared tales of their country, ways of life and feelings regarding American living. The purpose of the club was to create interest and excitement in Blair students concerning the opportunities to make ap- plication themselves. No matter where the destination, the experience would in- evitably be remembered and could possi- bly change their way of thinking, as well as life. Mrs. Gladys Roshko was a lively and ac- tive advisor. Many activities were ar- ranged throughout the year. A Christmas party involving international foods and traditions made the students a little less homesick during the holiday season. Fol- lowing this came a week of hard, but en- joyable, work on the Rose Parade floats. A picnic in the spring and a summer beach party brought an exciting end to the visit- ing students' fun-filled year in America. 14 ll if I Lf , 9 , ' is 56 A.F.S. I. 1 ' Always there with a helping hand The Z-Club sailed through the year with success. Among the many activities were, chocolate sucker sales, pinning up posters for the California Institute of Technology, parties for the handicapped children at Roosevelt School and a career day for young women. These services were geared to provide for the community. This year the Z-Club sponsored a cam- paign to help beautify the Blair campus. With the help of A.S.B. and the Red Cross Club the amphitheater benches were sanded and painted. President Katya Ar- mistead feels the success of the club is due to the effort and dedication of its members.
