Fre hm n Beginning a new year in an unfamiliar atmosphere can be a frightening exper- ience. This is a familiar feeling for any member of the freshmen class. Try to think of a term that describes a freshman and you come up with words like cau- tious, confused, and curious. There was a lot of talent in academics and ath- letics, and most became very involved in activities. Picking a freshmen out of the crowd is DOI a hard task. lt is a freshmen who usual- ly walks into the wrong class, or the one who carries a map of the campus during the first semester, or the one who walked to Allendale thinking it was C-campus. Being a freshmen class officer wasn't a easy task. It truly took a lot of time and effort combined with a busy schedule. Trying to get other class members inter- ested and motivated to get involved with the happenings at school was a full time job. The freshmen class was led by Presi- dent Sean Boyd: Vice-President Barbara Davis, Secretary lldi Pentek, and Treasur- er Pat Brandt during the fall semester. ln the spring, President Brenda Ramirez, Vice-President Jose Munoz, Secretary Ru- ben Brown, and Treasurer Efren Paniagua, led the active class. Several officers showed great leadership capabilities. The class was under the fine advisorship of Virgina Berrentini. During November, the class had a very successful candy apple sale which got them off to a good start financially. Due to the success of the sale in November, the class decided to have another in the spring. Finally, their spirit at assemblies was exceptional. They let the rest of the classes know that they're proud to be the Freshmen Class of I987. Although Blair is a great adjustment from junior high school, they have adapted well. They showed great leadership qualities for their years to come at Blair. - , ,,,,4,.- Top: Sean Boyd wishes he was back at home in bed. Above. Andy Laakmann laughs at Yuichi Handa's joke.
