I JQJ 'unior rom Royally A color scheme of red and white with a theme of spring romance carried out the 1949 Sweetheart Prom : sponsored and directed by the Junior Class. Reigning over this regal splendour, the Juniors presented as their popular choice, Larry Bradley as King , and his Queen , Janice Sims. arueat mug and ueen Gloria Hjerlied and Robert Sesvold reigned as Blair High's first Harvest King and Queen , and presided over the Harvest Dance, which is sponsored by the Speech Department, with music furnished by Don Kaye of LaCrosse. Each class elected their contestants for the royal honor, and the class receiving the greatest number of votes there- by elected their candidates for King and Queen. Votes were based upon candy sales and advance dance ticket sales. Gloria and Bob represented the Junior Class.

FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA Our Future Homemaker Organization has at present, 38 mem- bers. Officers of the organization are as follows: Janice Berg, Presldsntg Donna Olson, Vice Presidentg Pat Hoganson, Treasurerg Lois Hallingstad, Secretaryg and Beatrice Ander- son, reporter. Mrs. Richter, domestic science teacher ls their adviser. The local chapter of F.H.A. has done much toward the suc- cess of our excellent school social program throughout the yearg sponsoring such events as the Christmas 'Coffee Lag', sleigh-ride party, and 'old-time' dance, all of which were, highly enjoyed by the students attending. The girls did a fine job of raising money for their or- ganization this years Together with the F.F.A. and Band, they operated a concession at the Annual Egg Festival. Hag- azlnes were sold in a competitive contest with the Blair Future Farmer Chapter. Everyone enjoyed the 'Mc Bride Magic Show' held at the City Hall, and sponsored by the FhH.A. In addition to each member's individual projects during the year, Lily Johnson, Margaret Tranberg, and Eileen Bus represented the chapter in domestic demonstration contests held in competition with other school chapters. This spring the girls will again present th81P annual 'Style Show'. FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA Blair High Schools Future Farmer of America Chapter con- sists of 35 members. Current officers of the organization are: Donald De Husson, Presidentg Richard Vehrenkamp, Vice President, Paul Ofsdahl, Secretary, Aldred Sexe, Treasurerg and Donald Borreson, Reporter. Their sponsor is Mr. Frank Reynolds, agricultural instructor. During the year, they have sponsored and directed many fund-raising campaigns. They constructed a food-stand to be used as a concession at the Annual Egg Festival and shared in its management. Magazine and Christmas Card sales were conducted by the local chapter, from which a large profit was derived. Throughout the year, our F.F.A. Chapter has operated a Ice Cream Bar concession during noon hours in the school building. The majority of the profits from these various campaigns are used toward financing the annual Sen- ior Field Trip. Last year the graduating seniors visited the Black Hills and places of scenic and agricultural ln- terest along the route. Each member of the organization takes an actlte part in farm training programs, carrying on projects throughout the summer. Wayne Nyen, Howard Melby and Donald De Husson won 2nd. place ln a State Poultry Judging Contest early this fall. Aldred Sexe and Richard Vehrenkamp are chapter rep- resentatives for the degree of State Farmers, and Dale Nanstad this year represented the local chapter in the F.F.A. speaking contest, a national program conducted annu- al y. 45
