CHORUS Blair High School boasts a chorus numbering seventy voicesg half the enrollment of our school! This large vocal group is under the direction of Mr. Earl Othersall, music instructor. They have been using very difficult material, in spite of the limited amount of practice time available for the group. This, in itself, speaks well of the quality and ability of the group. Our chorus has been expanding and improving each year. This year, for the first time, the chorus gave a sep- erate concert of its own. The Chorus will attend the District Music Festival at Eau Claire on April 30th. and will compete with other groups for ratings. Selections which they will present are: 'All an the April Evening'g 'Shining Water'g and 'Green Cathe- ras BAND The students of Blair High School are proud of their sixty-piece band, under the direction of Mr. Earl Othersall, band and choral director. We have, this year, one of the finest concert bands in the history of the school. Four successful concerts were presented by the band during the year. Additions in the way of instrumentation and uniform improvements were made. New uniforms were purchased for the twlrlers, which added greatly to the lBPOh1hg appearance of our blnde Our band has been traditionally outstanding in sponsoring social activities through the years. Each year they manage the 'Christmas Ball'. A large, revolving crystal ball oc- cupied the center of interest in their colorful and inter- esting decorative theme for the occasion. Without a doubt, we have one of the finest 'pep bands' in this area, Which does its share to promote enthusiasm and interest at our basketball games throughout the year. Officers of the band are ae follows: Darrell Slette, President, Donald Strand, Treasurer: Beverly Solberg, L1- brarlan. The band will attend the tau Claire Contest on April 29th. Solos, concert numbers, and marching performance will be rated at this annual festival of music. The band has in addition to their regular activities, been very active in raising money for new uniforms. Candy sales have been conducted during the year, which have proved very profitable to their organization. A 'Jack Martin' program was sponsored by them e the City Hall. 43
