I IRRIGATION IN KLAHOKA The irrigation project in Southwestern Oklahoma development ie by far the largest irrigation development in the state. Its construction, by the Bureau of Reclamation, will be completed in 1945. The area is served by the Santa Fe Railway Company. The project provides for irrigation and flood control. The reservoir, located on the North Fork of Red River has a capacity large enough to irrigate 40,000 acres, practically all of which is located within eeven miles of Blair. The land in the distract is mostly privately owned and has been cultivated for years under ry farming methods. With irrigation to euppl ment rain, the district will be assured of crops every year. In accordance with Reclamation laws, irrigated farms in the district can not exceed 160 acres in size, and many will be smaller. In all, it is estimated that there will be some- thing like 506 irrigation farms in the project. X? FMSZZ' M444 0 mwvffg haf f-,.uw-'-u.... -:f.-Q., M.-A .av------M W-4+.,,, .-yay, ,,,,,.,1,,,,.
