The main purpose of the club is to support the teams of Blaine High and promote school spirit. These girls, together with the cheer and song leaders, encourage and give our boys the spirit of which makes a team. This year there included two alternates: a cheer al- ternate and song alternate to take the place of one of the cheer or song leaders if they were unable to attend the game. vm.. 'hs sn.. MIDDLE ROW: Scott Fischer, Randy Steinbach, Mike Jones, Steve Brimmer, Bob Taylor, Benny Bennett, Pat Green, Rick Kendall, Larry Bond, Bill Dodd, Mike Lyons. BOTTOM ROW: Coach Phil Claymore, Dave Thompson, Gary Ham, Ivan Kohn, Scott Dohner, Steve Walser Bob Benjamin, Randy Sanders, Wayne Breidford, Dan DeMent, Mike Morberg, Harvey Ives. The Blaine Borderites with the help of 13 senior lettermen, charged through a very successful football season with a record of 7 wins and 2 losses. The Borderites opened the season with a heartbreaking loss to Nooksack Valley Pioneers 6-0. But the Borderite spirit could not be broken, as they came back the following week with a smashing victory over Mt. Baker 27-12. The top scoring game of the season was with 4Tolt, when the Borderites crushed them 39-7, The second loss came the fol- lowing week when Monroe in a hard fought battle, came up on top 14-7 , The Borderites won their next five games against Meridian, Lynden, Lynden Christian, Stanwood, and ended the season with a 20-0 victory over Concrete. Blaine won a second place in the Whatcom ,county league and a third in the Northwest district league. Records like these give us great pride in our team and our school.
