Spring Sports Mr. Morgan, Bill Wieland, Mike Kartz, John Kaufman, Tom Poast. NOT PICTURED: Charlie Ewing. Cross Country There were only three Cross Country meets this year. There would have been more but they were cancelled because of weather and other complications. Five boys turned out for Cross Coun- try this year. They were: Bill Wieland, Charlie Ewing, Mike Kartz, John Kaufman, and Tom Poast. The team participated in the Northwest competition at Skagit Valley College and came in eighth place. Coach Morgan felt that Blaine did quite well consider- ing the competition from the larger schools. Golf Golf this year had only two regulars back on the links. They were Larry Vogt and Pete Fayette. Larry, a senior, had played on the team for three years and moved from second man last year to num- ber one this year. Pete, also a senior, moved from fifth man to number two in his second year of golf. Other seniors on the team were Charlie Ewing, number five man, and Dave Grant, a ready reserve. The only junior was Loren Gienger who was number six. Sophomores included Larry Bond, num- ber three, Randy Palmer, number four, Lenny Beckett, alternate, and Benny Bennett, also an alternate.
