Mr. Morgan came to us from Wantage in Berkshire, England where he taught physics, math, and chemistry in the Wantage Secondary Modern School. Mr. Barrie Morgan taught physics, math and English at Blaine Junior Senior High this year. He took the place of Mr. Thomas Wenzl who is teaching in Mr. Morgan's place at Wantage. Mrs. Barb Morgan joined her husband in December and was employed by the Blaine Elementa ry School. Now we actually realize how quickly those three years go by: but many treasured memories from our high school days will remain with us, Under the leadership of President Loren Loop, Vice President Rick Wear, Secretary Linda Church, and Treas- urer Carol Waters the class sponsored two dances, one of which we called Sophomore Feet Beat. Gordon Stewart and Guy Ewing were Student Council Representatives. The Junior year was dominated by three big projects, which kept us busy throughout the year. The first project of the year was our dinner held on Oct, 14th, which was a big success, In November the Junior Class Play was presented. This year we had three one-act plays. On April 7th the Junior Prom, with the theme Moonlight and Roses was ruled over by Queen Dawn Levien and King Rick Wear. Class officers for the year were: President Linda Eldridge, Vice Pres. Gary Bensen, and Secretary-Treasurer Colleen Bonallo. Representatives to Student Council were Gordon Stewart and Rick Wear. During the summer of 1967 several class members represented our school at leadership conferences. They were: Linda Church and Michele Joubert, Girls' State, Gordon Stewart and Rick Wear, Boys' State, John Kaufman, Seabeek, and Lynda Kimball, Waskowitz. As Seniors there were many privileges, responsibilities and activities. The halls were decorated with balloons with slogans written on them and suckers were given to all high school students with Lick the Lions on them. At lunch the seniors sponsored a pie eating con- test in which a senior won, sophomore took second place and a junior third. The bonfire was piled from 4-8 that night, Friday was rag day. Everyone who had helped with the bonfire was allowed to wear old clothes to school. Student Publications The Borderite annual and the Borderite Flashes, the school paper were published by the journal ism class. To a stranger walking into the classroom, it would have looked at times like complete turmoil as various assignments were being worked on by all class members. Out of this confusion, though, came an issue of the school paper every two weeks and the yearbook you are now looking at. The Borderite Flashes was under the leadership of editor, Charlie Ewing and assistant editor, JoAnn Simonarson. The school paper is a mimeographed paper and usually had between 8 to 12 pages. V June Auld was the school correspondent--and every week she took care of the job of sending the Borderwrite columns to the Bellingham Herald and the Blaine Journal. Michele Joubert was editor of the 1968 Borderite. Micaela Elliott was assistant editor, and Muriel Ferguson was business manager. The annual was published by the R. Wallace Pischel Com- pany of Pasco, Washington. Photography was done by F. Wear of Blaine. This year's Blaine Borderites surprised everyone by winning the Whatcom County championship with a record of five wins and no losses. The season started out at Port Townsend with a 14-13 win over the Chimacum Cowboys. Next came the only loss of the season, 19-0 at the hands of the Concrete Lions in the Borderites first home game. The following game Langley, B. C. came to the Border City only to fall to the Borderites, 20-6. The first league game was against the seventh-ranked Mt. Baker Mountaineers and the Borderites pulled off their upset of the year, 7-6. Then the Borderites, with a little confidence, defeated Meridian, 13-7, in a hard fought game. Next in line, came the Lynden Lions, whom the Borderites hadn't defeated for 12 years. The game ended with the score, 14-6, and Blaine was all alone in first place in the county. The next game was one that Coach Claymore had looked forward to--the Borderites played almost every player in a 29-0 rout of Lynden Christian. The Borderites then ended a perfect league season with a 6-O win over Nooksack Valley. The season was ended with a 0-0 tie with St. Thomas More of British Columbia.
