Angle T HERE is perhaps no one who wiJl be more greatly missed both for his innumerable services to his community and our college and for his outstanding character and friendship. Mr. Angle was a public spirited citizen and was liberal in using his ability for the good of his fellow-man and for the advancement of the program of the Church. He was kind-hearted and delighted to enter¬ tain in his home friends who came that way. It was a pleasure to know him and to come in contact with his cordial and inspiring character. The Acorn offers this simple tribute of love and esteem to his memory. S. L. Barrow, Vice-President George P. Adams, Secretary-Treasurer Blackstone, Virginia Blackstone, Virginia J. A. Hardy Dr. J. Go oil it?” Millicent: My ancestry dates hack to before the days of Charlemagne. How old is your family? Claudine: I really can’t say. You see, all our family records were lost in the Hood. Visitor: What make is your boy friend’s new car? Rose Manning (rather vague about such things): I think I heard him say it was a wow. Little Genevieve had gone to bring in the kittens. Her father, hearing a shrill cry, called, “Don’t hurt the kittens, Genevieve.” “Oh, no!” said Genevieve. “I’m carrying them very carefully by their stems.” Gert: Can a person be punished for something he hasn’t done? Miss Davis: No, that wouldn’t be justice. Gert: Well, I haven’t done my homework. An oyster met an oyster. And they were oysters two; Two oysters met two oysters, And they were oysters, too; Four oysters met a pint of milk, And they were oyster stew. Russell: Every time I kiss you it makes me a better man. Jane: Well, you needn ' t try to get to Heaven in one night. Buck: Do you want to marry a one-eyed fellow? Lee: No. Why? Buck: Then you had better let me carry the umbrella. O’Leary: I ain’t got no pencil! Miss Marshall (shocked at her expression): Oh, Helen, I have no pencil! O ' Leary: You ain’t either? Well, we’re both in the same fix. McDonald: Just think! School has been going on for four weeks now. Hams: Gee, it seems like a month to me! Mims: Stick to team work, girls! Remember the banana: every time it leaves the bunch it gets skinned. Scotty (very triumphantly): I just received five dollars for my latest book, “Call of the Lure.’’ Ann: And who was the victim? Scotty: The express company; they lost it. Gert: I’d like to donate my last picture to a charitable cause. Miss Davis: Why not an institution for the blind? Aggie: I’m awfully sorry, but I’m all out of gasoline. Girls,” said Mrs. Nelson, in writing themes you should not attempt any flights of fancy; simply be yourselves and write what is in you. As a result Hester wrote the following: We should not attempt any flights of fancy, but simply write what is in us. In me there is my stummick, my heart, my lungs, my liver, one coca cola, five ham sandwiches, two butterscotch pies, and my dinner. Mrs. Freeman, complained Frannie Williams, I don ' t feel very well. That’s too bad, dear,” said Mrs. Freeman very sympathetically. Where do you feel worst? In school, Mrs. Freeman. As Henrich took the stage to sing, Mary Carroll was frantic about Miss Bothne’s gesticu¬ lations with her baton. Why is Miss Bothne shaking her stick at Henrich?” demanded Carroll very indignantly. “Sh-h! She’s not shaking her stick at her. But Carroll wasn’t convinced.
