Dr. J. C. Reed Lawrence C. Sullivan Trustee Blackstone College Trustee Blackstone College 1912-1935 1930-1935 O N January 7, 1935, at his home in Blackstone, Dr. J. C. Reed, in the 93rd year of his life, passed to his eternal reward. He was admitted to the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in 1868, and continued in its effective ranks until his superannuation in 1922. During his long ministry he served many charges in the Virginia Annual Conference, and served several terms in the presiding eldership. He was a friend of man, a lover of righteousness, a faithful and fearless prophet of the Word of God, a progressive leader, an able administrator, a tireless worker, and, in all, a Christian saint. In his passing we have all suffered a loss; in his influence he has contrib¬ uted to us an imperishable gift. Mr. Lawrence C. Sullivan was born May 3, 1892 and died January 25, 1935. His faith and loyalty in his work for all good things was an inspiration. He was one of the most beloved leaders in the Church and Sunday School. His happy manner and cordial friendship blessed all who came in touch with him. The memory of this man will ever be cherished by his friends and his influence will live through the years.
