FOREWORD The students of Blackford High School, as individuals, differ in interests and abilities. The school, in recognizing these students as separate identities, offers many different activities. There are numerous reasons why activities are such an im- portant part of school life. Through activities, the school attempts to help the student mature into a responsible adult. Active par- ticipation in Blackford's extracurricular program also promotes enduring qualities of good citizenship. The student's social develop- ment is increased through knowledge and experience. All of these efforts of the individual benefit the entire student body. While the primary purpose of the school is to educate, this purpose is greatly enriched through school activities. These ac- tivities vary from sports to music to social events and are often the most treasured memories of high school. Because of the variety and importance of school activities and events, we have accented them in the 1966 Saga. 2
