X -5 1 'ii' L Head Coach Pesut COACH'S MESSAGE The Blackford Braves had a tough football season in 1965. The squad had a 1-8 record. With a few breaks it could have been 7-2 or better. Inexperience was partly responsible for the Braves giving up the ball 38 times, Q25 fumbles lost and 13 interceptionsj. Mistakes like this hurt in each game played. Even though the Braves of 1965 only won one game they were never out fought and never quit . They were in all but one game right to the end. The efforts of the following young men made this possible on offense: Doug Wright and Terry Rager, endsg Rich Dumanowski and Art Lyons, tacklesg Doug Wills and Frank Cote, guardsg Chuck Pottier, centerg Budd Gapero, Theron Jones, Ron Focht and Gary Asti, backs. On defense Mike Aguilera, Mike Leinwohl, Ron McGaughy, Larry Gross and some of the offensive men doubling on defense contributed to the finest defensive year we have had at Blackford. Only three teams rushed for 100 yards or more against our defensive unit. With all the mishaps that occurred during the fall of 65, it is hoped that all of us at Blackford will profit from these mistakes. I wish success to the young men returning to the gridiron of Blackford in 1966 and to the seniors in whatever en- deavor they select. X48 Coach Brklyacrch
