Swinging and singing occurred everyday in Bruinland. Under the direction of Mr. Philip Turley, the choirs sang their hearts out to achieve perfection. Four choirs which resided at Blackford were the Freshman, Concert, Chorale, and Swing. When Christmas rolled around, the choirs recorded a tape containing Christ- mas songs which the radio station, WWHC, played during the Yuletide sea- son. The choirs also had a chance to come together with the seventh and eighth grade choirs from the Hartford City Junior High Above Right: Left, Right, Left. Five bands fulfilled Blackford ' s instrumental needs. These in- cluded the Marching, Pep, Stage, Concert, and Symphonic Bands. The Stage Band kept up with the times by playing selections from the hit movies, Grease and Sgt. Pepper ' s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Selling raffle tickets for a new television set to raise money for the trip planned for the spring of 1980 was one way the parents of the Band students became involved with Band activities.
