Advisor Ms. Jensen watches the girls as they practice for the pep assembly. “Unity is in! chant Laurie. Lori, Nicole, and Denise. I .ong before you even think about the beginning of the next school year, the new cheerleaders have spent hundreds of hours in raising money for uniforms, cheerleader camp, and other ac- tivities. The cheerleader camp at Utah State University was probably one of the highlights of their first year of cheerleading. They made new friends, and learned new cheers, stunts, and pyramids. They had fun in the sun. Most important and memorable, they learned what true unity was. Out of 1200 girls, our cheerleaders were hon- ored with the coveted spirit stick award for showing skill, unity, friendliness, and spirit. A cheerleader’s life is full of meetings, prac- tices, organizing, pep assemblies, yelling, mak- ing posters, decorating dances, and riding home at 11:00 p.m. after a game, remembering she has a novel to read by second period the next day.
