I CAN jump 26.975 feel in the air,” claims learn captain, l-aurie Ware. “Smile for the cheesy bird, guys! grins Denise Johnston as she sights the photographer while Ms. Carey drives them in the fair parade. Advisor Ms. Jensen watches the girls as they practice for the pep assembly. “Unity is in! chant Laurie. Lori, Nicole, and Denise. I .ong before you even think about the beginning of the next school year, the new cheerleaders have spent hundreds of hours in raising money for uniforms, cheerleader camp, and other ac- tivities. The cheerleader camp at Utah State University was probably one of the highlights of their first year of cheerleading. They made new friends, and learned new cheers, stunts, and pyramids. They had fun in the sun. Most important and memorable, they learned what true unity was. Out of 1200 girls, our cheerleaders were hon- ored with the coveted spirit stick award for showing skill, unity, friendliness, and spirit. A cheerleader’s life is full of meetings, prac- tices, organizing, pep assemblies, yelling, mak- ing posters, decorating dances, and riding home at 11:00 p.m. after a game, remembering she has a novel to read by second period the next day. The life of a cheerleader may not include sleep, but it’s certainly not dull! - Ms. Carey (advisori BJHS Cheerleaders are: Katie Rowe. Denise Johnston. Each runner struggling to be successful; Hopes of achievement in each of their eyes. Up ahead the road looks all uphill With twists and turns, a challenge for them all. But there he goes with much determination and persistance. Storming up the road to victory’s end. While running down the road, A glimpse of pain in his eyes. The hero is obviously hurting but he won’t stop U ntil he is successful and has reached his destination. Each step is one step closer to the finish And now the end is near. Up ahead, the crowd is in an uproar. The final flight is on. He can't feel much, but the throbbing in his legs. The sweat down his back and the excitement in his heart. Now he knows he can. And he does! Later standing alone, he realizes He did it! But it wasn’t the victory that caused the happiness. He had pulled himself through and hadn't given up.
