1972 Was A Time Of Change Throughout its history. Blackfoot High school has been a continuously changing school. The size of enrollment is an example In 1912. BHS consisted of only 190 students and 10 faculty members, whereas, this year we had 1225 students and 60 faculty members As we came to school in the fall we were under new leadership Mr Vaughn Hawkes was our new principal with Mr Garth Belnap as vice-principal We also started a new form of student government and a new dress code With the death of I T Rip” Stoddard in October. Mr Spence Gardner became the new school district superintendent. The year of 1971 1972 can be summarized by the words of Thomas Carlyle Today is not yesterday We ourselves change How then, can our works and thoughts, if they are always to be the fittest, continue always the same? Change, indeed is painful, yet ever needful; and if memory have its force and worth so also has hope. Left Student Government

But, Many Things Endure. The students of Blackfoot High School soon discovered this year was a time of change Although, there were many things that endured As the students arrived each morning the building was still the same, changing little from day to day Throughout the day it was discovered that there was still a need to conquer each subject Therefore, many students were caught in the act of studying in various places For the one that conquered was the one that endured High school life wasn't all work and no play Before, during, and after school, hours were filled with various activities Clubs, dances, and sports played an important role in a student's social life Learning new ideas and meeting new people has remained the purpose of Blackfoot High School
