She plans to go to college next year when she returns to Mexico. She plans to spend a lot of time with her family and her steady boyfriend, David. She played basketball in Mexico for 3 years and has enjoyed it. Alejandra’s favorite classes are physics, math and computers. Her least favorite class is literature. Alejandra likes to listen and sing along with rock and roll music. Some of her favorite singers are Peter Sataria and Madonna. Some of her favorite groups are Air Supply, Survivor, and Heart. ANNA MAE FLOURA The Senior class of 1987 is proud to dedicate this year’s yearbook to Mrs. Anna Mae Floura. Most of us have had Mrs. Floura for a class or two. She has been a great teacher and a great friend. Mrs. Floura graduated from Blackduck High School in 1946. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota, where her major was Home Economics. She was inspired by her Home Economics teacher and her father. She chose her profession because she always liked home cooking. She has been teaching since 1951 and has been at Blackduck since 1954 where she started teaching part-time. She says that what she enjoys most about teaching is being with young people, she can be creative, and the variety in her job — since no two days are ever the same. Mrs. Floura has four children: Mary, Pat, Warren, and Joan. In her spare time she likes to bike, cross-country ski, fish, work in her garden, read, sew, and cook. Enjoy your retirement Mrs. Floura and once again, THANK YOU! MEMORIES: The Past This year we decided to write to the students that used to be here but for one reason or another left to go to another school. Sparby, L. Richter Food Service was started in Blackduck High in the fall of 1968. The Blackduck class was one of the first in the state of Minnesota and was started as a pilot program. The food service industry was and is one of the top and is still rapidly expanding. The state felt the need to offer a class to high school students designed to prepare them for entry level food service oc- cupations. The program is also to prepare students and encourage them to go on to vocational schools and colleges. The food service class has traditionally held a fall restaurant and the tradition was carried on with a 50’s style restaurant called Annie’s in honor of Mrs. Floura. They have also sold Monster Cookies, pies for Thanksgiving and breads for Christmas. They do many things for the school and the community.
