BEA TEACHER of the YEAR This year Mrs. Donna Collison, one of the kindergarten teachers, was selected as the Blackduck Education Association (BEA) Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Collison has been teaching kindergarten at Blackduck since 1969 and says it has been a rewarding challenge. Mrs. Collison believes that although teaching is a difficult career, it is all worthwhile if there is just one little smile, one little hug, or one kind word. She thinks that all children should be able to say — “Hey, I'm OK! The BEA Teacher of the Year award is given to a teacher who has at least a baccalaureate degree or a license to teach from the state of Minnesota. The teacher who is chosen is the representative of the many educators who influence our lives daily. The main purpose of the award is to express the appreciation for all of the outstanding men and women in the education field. The teacher s name is then nominated for State and National Teacher of the Year. CONGRATULATIONS MRS. COLLISON!! 8

Principal This year we have watched as our school has grown through the addition of a new library and classroon building. But the most important growth which is made in a school is growth by the students. A modern school building and a staff of excellent teachers using the most proven teaching methods and materials provide the best setting for students to grow through discovery — discovery of themselves and the people and world around them. As the class of 1986 prepares to graduate, we can reflect on the growth they have shown thus far, and an- ticipate their continued growth as they walk confidently toward life in the 21st century. T.
