Miss Alsaker is the Blackduck High School librarian. She has directed several plays and has been a great help to the girl's Volleyball, Basketball, and Track coaches as she has kept the score books for them for a number of years. We dedicate this year’s Yearbook to Miss Alsaker for her years of work as the advisor of the Black Quill Staff. It is through her hard work and guidance that the Yearbook is produced each year. McFadden Exchange Student Lars Selsbo is a foreign exchange student here at B.H.S. He has been in the Blackduck area since August 8th and will be returning, after graduation, to his heme near Halnstad, Sweeden. He decided to apply to be an exchange student when he read of other students who had been to «erica, and of their experiences. Lars is sixteen and has a fourteen year old sister at hone. Lars is planning on going into engineering after high school. TODD TOWNSEND JEANNE BRUERS In Memoriam t As the class of 1979 graduates this year, We are saddened by the loss of two former classmates, Todd Townsend's untimely death at the beginning of our senior year left us with heavy hearts, along with a deep appreciation of having known him. His friendly smile will always be remembered and treasured in our hearts. Jeanne Bruers left us during our seventh grade year. Looking back, we remember her smiling eyes and bubbling laughter that mixed with our own. It is sad to lose such a good friend and classmate but having known her and remembering her, brings many a fond smile. She lives east of Blackduck with her family of five and one on the way. Dave Stern is now running his own gas station out in the Skimmerhom area. Marilyn Yerbich is founder of the Nebish beauty parlor and cosmetology college. Bob Moe has just recently finished up his English quizzes and received his diploma. He also has been promoted to head carry-out boy at Lueken's in Bemidji. Laurie Stomberg is still trying to convince the cop that she thought it was a coke. Lars Selsbo is a foreign exchange student on the Russian front. Dennis Schuemann is a hairdresser at his own beauty salon where he specializes in hair straightening. Dale Reed was reported missing after laying a new cement sidewalk in downtown Blackduck. We think he is somewhere underneath. Lona Larson is running a dude ranch in Texas where she spends alot of time entertaining dudes . Tom Johnson is now owner and manager of Wolden's 76 Service in Blackduck. His six little red-haired kids are gas-pump jockeys. Shari Hendrickson is now a farmer out in Nebish territory. On weekends she has a new job - she and Jackie Fellows are taking the place of Satina and Fonda Love at the Funkley Bar and Grill. Jackie Fellows has just written a new book entitled Diary of a Mad Housewife . Gary Gross is the starting center on the Minnesota Gophers Basketball team. Todd Gabrelcik is now B.H.S. principal with very definite rules about any kind of hanky panky within sight of the chorus room. Alan Gross is now an all-star wrestler. Mary Mudra is still living in Squaw Lake with her own family which consists of her hubby, nine kids, two dogs, four cats, six goldfish and one bird. Shelley Bryant's 1979 motto of Shelley will has finally been traded in for Shelley did. Mike Czech is sxill trying to explain how come he always gets caught. Chris Dick is the heavyweight champion of the world. Chris Fitch is the manager at the Burger Deli which now has a sign that reads 2,000 served After ten years, Dayle Orr is still trying to convince people that she misunderstood Todd Page's joke in 7th grade, Jim Beasley is still trying to get through basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. Clint Randall, after ten years, is still trying to think up his senior prophesy. Karen Smith is now part-owner, with Susan Mistic, of Smith Mistic's Auto Repair Shop . Ted Smith is now repairing race cars in Indianapolis. Chris Springer is still in noon detention. Christie Stenson is still washing pastry cases at the bakery. Holly Tisland is out in Montana, rustling cowboys. Donald Peterson is still reading Mad magazine in Mr. Kovar's English class. Charlene Gaxter is still the head wrestling cheerleader at B.H.S. Chris Gamer is the assistant wrestling coach and speech teacher at B.H.S. Twyla Tuey has discovered that blondes definitely do not have all the fun. Jody Derr finally got married after having ten kids. Todd Tallin just realized that his kids will soon be having the same trouble with Mr. Mathews that he did. Tammy Wallin, after ten.-years, is still suffering the effects of hero worship - she put up Burt Reynolds wallpaper in her bathroom. Dane Beckworth owns a plot of land near Blackduck and has his own little pond in the back yard Candy Knutson is having a high-flying time. Bonnie Nagel is still out duck hunting with Jeff while waiting at home are a couple of little frys . Wesley Nestberg is working hard in the woods after wasting nine years in college. Michele Olson is still frying hamburgers at the Burger Deli. Jolayne Gunderson is slowly getting up in the world - she has finally reached five feet tall. Kim Jensen is taking dictation while running after curtain climbers. Kathy Johnson is still trying to teach Mr. Schaefer some new jokes, but he fails to catch on. Joe Anderson is the head janitor at B.H.S. Bill Whitney is pretending to be doing construction work - he s actually playing with Lincoln logs. Floyd Hightshoe is a teacher at B.H.S., putting those unfortunate students through what we all went through. Mike Sunell and Dawn Kalvig have teamed up (musically, of course) and are contemplating a trip to Kansas City to find out what they missed when they were seniors. Tammle Brekke is now the second half of the mother daughter nursing team at the Blackduck Clinic Patti Beighley is a cheerleader for the Minnesota Phillies. Tami Cobum is starring in a new version of the Flintstones. Bryan Erpelding is still coming back to B.H.S. for the annual F.S. trip and is still kicking his roomate out of the room. John Gross is still looking for an all-American girl to marry. Todd Mistic is still trying to convince Mrs. Erickson that he lost his right contact lens. Charlie Anderson is still looking for some junior girl to will his lips to. Tonie Baird doesn9t need the trips to Big Falls anymore - she finally got what she wanted. Karen Beck is still trying to live down the fact that she and Kevin are twins. Kathy Sorheim is putting her hall of fame to good use and is now a Dallas Cowgirl. Betty Theisen is now teaching typing and office practice at B.H.S., taking Mr. Schaefer s place. Terri Theisen is the founder of a new health food store, specializing in making your life and legs longer. Tim Long is a Catholic priest. David Fischer is the leader of a groovy new group, Joe Blowcomb and the Patent Leathers - they have now hit the American top 40 with their latest tune, My Sweet Baby which is an original by Dave. He also works part-time at the Viking, and at KKBJ as a disc jockey. Mike Czech is still trying to get his campaign tape off his van. Marty Yerbich is the associate professor of Philosophy at Yale University.
