DEDICATION We are fortunate to have Mr. Gerald Sonnek as a member of our school and community. He has strived to make us more conscientious students and better citizens through his guidance, leader- ship and determination. The class of 1969 is proud to honor him at this time. High school graduation for Mr. Sonnek came in 1959 at Wells High School in Gaston, Minnesota. Mr. Sonnek graduated from St. Thomas College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social stud- ies and physical education. He spent the following year doing graduate work in education and social studies at St. Thomas College. The Virgin Islands became the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sonnek for the 1964-1965 school year. Mr. Sonnek taught social studies and physical education while his wife had a sixth grade class. Since 1965 Mr. Sonnek has taught sen- ior high social studies at Blackduck. He was named head football coach for the Brakes in the 1966 season. During the three years that he has coached the Drakes, they have lost only two games. Under his guidance the Drakes also won the Northland Lites Conference title in 1967. Mr. Sonnek is also an advisor of the senior class. Student Council and Lettermen's Club.
